People's Artist Huu Quoc and actress Cao My Kim give gifts to students in Lang Nu, Lao Cai
On November 29, a delegation of artists from Ho Chi Minh City participating in the 2024 journey to the source with the theme " Dien Bien Phu - The heroic epic of the century" arrived at Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province after half a day of traveling from SaPa city to Bao Yen district in the warm sunny afternoon.
A large number of people and students gathered at Phuc Khanh Primary and Secondary School No. 1 to welcome the delegation. Many parents who had seen the artists on the small screen for a long time, and now held their hands and watched their performances, expressed their emotions.
Meaningful gifts from artists from Ho Chi Minh City were given to people after storm No. 3 ( YAGI ), in Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province.
The delegation presented gifts to support people and students affected by storm No. 3 (YAGI) in Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province after the historic flood, which caused heavy damage to local people. Many residential areas were deeply flooded, cut off and isolated, hundreds of people had to be evacuated to safety; many roads, houses, properties, livestock, poultry and thousands of hectares of rice, crops, etc. were damaged, directly affecting the lives and production activities of the people.
In Nu village alone, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province, 34 households and 40 houses were buried, with 68 people dead or missing.

According to information from the local authorities, 61 bodies have been found, while 7 people are still missing. After visiting the households and students, the delegation members presented 120 gifts (VND 1 million/gift) to encourage and support teachers, students and their families in Bao Yen district to overcome difficulties, overcome damage and stabilize their lives.
On this occasion, designer Viet Hung also presented 25 sets of Ao Dai fabric (total value of 125 million VND) to disadvantaged teachers in Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province. It is known that in September 2024, in Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and Vietnam Television started construction and reconstruction of Nu village residential area, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district.

Up to now, the project is being urgently constructed to ensure stable and long-term living conditions for the people. Coming to Nu village after nearly 3 months of being buried by flash floods caused by Typhoon Yagi, the HCM City artists' group heard and felt more clearly the difficult life of the people here.
The impressive singing and dancing performance brought many emotions to parents and students at Phuc Khanh High School and Secondary School No. 1.
Mrs. Hoang Thi Dau’s family of 6 people was taken by the flood, 3 of them were killed. Her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren were swept away by the flood. Their house and fields were also lost. With the care and support of the government and benefactors, her family’s life is now gradually stabilizing.

Artists and singers from the Returning Artists Group performed a number of shows for the locals and students. Fashion designer Viet Hung was moved to say: “The pain caused by natural disasters will eventually pass, but what will forever remain in the minds of artists in Ho Chi Minh City is the extraordinary efforts of the locals to overcome hardships and losses to rebuild their lives. I hope to have the opportunity to return to this place, to see teachers wearing Ao Dai to school, to see students achieving academic success, becoming good children and good students, enriching their hometown, and contributing to the country.”
People's Artist Huu Quoc expressed his condolences for the loss of the people of Bao Yen district. The gifts, though small, were the heartfelt gifts from the city's artists, hoping to ease some of the loss caused by the storm and flood. "I believe that the lessons learned and what was seen during this meaningful trip will be a great catalyst for artists in Ho Chi Minh City to promote their creativity, bringing to life many good works and many songs and compositions about the beloved Nu village" - People's Artist Huu Quoc said.
