Although no longer officially distributed in Vietnam, Honda Monkey - the legendary mini bike line often called "monkey bike" - still retains its special appeal. The small but unique design, nostalgic style mixed with modernity makes Monkey a model sought after by many collectors. In March 2025, this brand launched the Honda Monkey Chrome Legacy - a limited edition marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Honda's branch in Thailand. Immediately after that, this unique model quickly appeared in Vietnam through private import channels.
As soon as it was launched in Thailand, Monkey Chrome Legacy created a strong effect. Within just a few days of the event, all 1,390 vehicles were ordered by customers. Notably, a motorbike business unit in Ho Chi Minh City quickly owned 3 vehicles and brought them to Vietnam. These vehicles have serial numbers 0009, 0577 and 0766. Compared to previous Monkey versions, Chrome Legacy still retains the compact appearance, with a strong retro style that has been deeply ingrained in the minds of fans. However, to celebrate the special journey, Honda has added many outstanding details, making this limited edition completely different. The most impressive point is the shiny chrome plating on the fuel tank, front and rear fenders and side panels. This sophisticated combination makes the small car luxurious and modern but still retains the inherent mischievousness of the Monkey line. The white bird logo on a red background, chrome border and the words "Thai Honda 60 Anniversary" appear on the fuel tank, reminiscent of the legendary Monkey Z50 Chrome model from the 1960s.
In addition, the body panel is also fitted with a 60th anniversary logo and a 3D "Double Monkey" symbol, directly inspired by the first Monkey generations. The two-tone black-gray leather saddle has a classic style, creating harmony with the overall design. Not only for collection, Honda Monkey Chrome Legacy also fully meets the needs of practical operation. The vehicle is equipped with a full LED lighting system from headlights, taillights to turn signals, ensuring high lighting efficiency and energy saving. The round LCD clock cluster has a classic style but clearly displays basic parameters such as speed, distance or fuel level. The pair of 12-inch alloy wheels combined with single disc brakes for both front and rear, both ensure safety and increase the sportiness of this compact car model. The Honda Monkey Chrome Legacy uses a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine block is integrated with PGM-FI electronic fuel injection technology, meets Euro 5+ emission standards, produces 9.2 horsepower and 11 Nm of torque.
This power is combined with a 5-speed gearbox, providing a flexible driving experience, suitable for both urban driving and weekend trips. Another plus is fuel economy: consumption is only about 1.5 liters/100 km. In Thailand, the Honda Monkey Chrome Legacy is listed at 117,000 baht, equivalent to about 82 million VND. However, when it comes to Vietnam, the actual price will certainly be much higher due to import costs, taxes and scarcity. In addition to the car, customers who own the Monkey Chrome Legacy will also receive a special helmet with the 60th anniversary logo printed on it - an accessory designed specifically for this version. The price of the car sold in Vietnam has not been announced, but bringing only 3 cars to the country is considered a "trophy" for collectors.
