The highlight of the rehearsal was the parade, involving over 12,000 people. This included forces from the Ministry of National Defense : ceremonial artillery, consisting of 18 105mm cannons; an air force contingent of 10 helicopters carrying the Party flag and the national flag flying over the grandstand; and on-field forces including the honor guard and five standing formations. The parade contingent consisted of the ceremonial guard (carrying the Party flag and the national flag), 16 marching contingents, and a contingent of civilian workers on the front lines.
The forces from the Ministry of Public Security participating included two groups standing on the field and nine groups marching and parading.
The forces from Dien Bien province participating in the parade included 3 ceremonial contingents, a contingent of female militia members from the Northwest ethnic groups, and 88 contingents of the general public; along with 20 contingents standing as background figures on the field.
