Safe swimming training for children in Ly Son special zone

The Women's Union of Ly Son Special Zone (Quang Ngai Province) coordinated with the Youth Union of the 126th Naval Special Brigade (Navy) which is performing its mission in Ly Son Special Zone to open a class to train children in safe swimming and anti-drowning skills.

The swimming safety training class and anti-drowning skills took place from July 1 to July 21 at the military swimming pool, Dong An Hai village, Ly Son special zone, with nearly 75 children, aged 8-15, registering to learn to swim.

During the training class, the children were instructed by the Navy Special Forces 126 on basic frog swimming skills, breathing control, anti-drowning skills... to handle incidents while swimming and some skills in using equipment such as life buoys to save drowning victims when necessary.

In addition, children learn basic principles to prevent accidents such as not swimming in deep water, strong currents, not swimming without adult supervision...

Through the course, each student is fully equipped with knowledge and skills to protect themselves and provide timely support in case of emergency situations underwater.

Bui Chi Thanh (7 years old) shared: “This is the second time I have participated in a swimming class with the Navy Special Forces, I am so happy! Thanks to their dedicated teaching, I not only know how to swim but also learn many important skills to prevent drowning. I will try to teach new friends so that everyone is safe when going into the water.”

Truong Xuan Phuc (8 years old) joined the class for the first time, sharing: “I am very excited because this is the first time I have learned to swim. I hope to learn to swim well soon. Here, we can both learn and have fun, so everyone feels very happy.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc, President of the Women's Union of Ly Son Special Zone, said that this is the third year the association has coordinated with the Youth Union of the 126th Naval Special Brigade to organize swimming classes for children.

"This is a very meaningful activity, because in addition to providing swimming skills, the Navy Special Forces also instruct children in first aid skills, knowledge of drowning prevention and how to handle situations when rescuing others. The goal is to help reduce the risk of drowning for children in Ly Son Special Zone," said the President of the Women's Union of Ly Son Special Zone.
