Gary Neville believes in Matheus Cunha's abilities, but Paul Scholes suggests that playing at Old Trafford could easily cause the Brazilian striker to lose form.

In an interview with Sky Sports , Neville said: “Manchester United are in desperate need of a striker, and Cunha would fit into the system that manager Ruben Amorim is building. United let Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford leave, and now they're playing with Garnacho, which makes the squad unbalanced.”
Neville emphasized that United needed a player capable of dribbling past opponents and breaking down the opposing defense. "Manchester United need to score goals; they need a player who can make a difference," Neville further analyzed.
Paul Scholes also expressed his support for Cunha. He said: “Cunha seems to possess the qualities that Ruben Amorim wants. He knows that his team isn’t strong and agile enough, while Cunha is physically fit and has scored 15 goals this season.”
However, the Old Trafford legend expressed concern about any new signings arriving at MU at this time. Scholes shared: “I feel this is not the ideal place to go. The quality of the current squad is very poor. With Cunha, I wonder if he will play as a central striker or a winger?”
Scholes praised Cunha's technical skills but expressed concerns about his ability to adapt to Manchester United's style of play. "You can sign three of the best players in the world , but I think they would struggle to join the team at this time," Scholes said.
Cunha signed a five-year contract with an option to extend until 2031. The transfer fee is £62.5 million, equivalent to Cunha's release clause, but MU will pay in installments.
