According to the Daily Mail , many iPhone users expressed anger when they took to social media to warn other users that iOS 17.4 had reduced the battery life of their phones. Many iPhone users say battery life has decreased after updating to iOS 17.4

One user on X asked: “Is anyone experiencing rapid battery drain after updating to iOS 17.4?”, while another wrote: “Do not update to iOS 17.4. It is a trap that will drain your battery quickly.”

Several other social media users have also shared details of their battery drain issues, and if true, the battery life is significantly shorter. One iPhone 11 Pro user said: “Today I tried to charge my iPhone 11 Pro which was at 40% battery when plugged in, it took over 4 hours to charge to 94%.”

Experts recommend that if you experience battery drain after updating iOS, the most important thing to do is be patient. After updating, battery life will decrease slightly as the iPhone continues to perform some tasks in the background, such as updating apps and rebuilding caches. Since the phone is doing more than usual, it is expected to drain the battery faster than usual. This process can last from a few hours to a day, depending on the age of the phone and the bandwidth of the connection.

Restarting your iPhone can also help resolve these issues a little faster. To do this, try restarting by holding down the power button and the volume down button until the power slider appears, then turn your phone off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.

Additionally, after updating iOS, some outdated apps can cause unexpected issues with the new software and lead to battery drain. So making sure all apps are updated can help fix the problem, but for a more detailed analysis, users can use the iPhone's battery tools to find out more by opening the Settings app > Battery and scrolling down to see the battery drain between apps. If any apps are consuming a lot of power, users can try updating the app, closing the app when not needed, or just deleting the app altogether.

For iPhone 15 users, iOS 17.4 also includes new battery health information that allows users to learn more about the battery on their phone. In the Battery & Charging Health settings, users who have updated to iOS 17.4 can see information such as the number of charge cycles, the date of manufacture, and when the battery was first used.
