Apple Intelligence is Apple's new AI feature suite, rumored to be driving users to upgrade to the iPhone 16. This feature suite is expected to be released alongside the iPhone 16 this September.
However, last week Apple Intelligence first appeared as a test version in iOS 18.1 beta 1. Therefore, this feature will not be available in the official iOS 18 release in September. As a result, many speculate that the iPhone 16 will be launched later.

Denying these rumors, in his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman stated that the iPhone 16 will still launch as planned despite the release of the Apple Intelligence feature set in October.
Although the company had previously delayed the launch of the iPhone due to incomplete software (the iPhone 4s was launched in October 2011 instead of June because Siri and iCloud were not yet ready).
But this time Apple is choosing a different strategy and will not postpone the product launch date. Gurman revealed that the iPhone launch date will be similar to last year, possibly September 10th. And users will need to upgrade their hardware to iOS 18.1 to use Apple Intelligence.
In the July 29th beta, Apple Intelligence supported several features such as text processing and call recording. Siri also received a new interface, but ChatGPT was still absent. Gurman commented that these features still fell short of expectations.
Although the feature set will be further improved and refined before its widespread release, even with an October release, users will still have to wait until next year for Siri to be fully perfected to take advantage of its capabilities.
Gurman stated that to become a leader, Apple needs to release more meaningful features more quickly.
