Accordingly, Apple appears to be looking to bring red to the next generation of iPhone Pro, as the tech giant seeks to refresh its premium color palette, which is currently dominated by muted tones. This information was revealed by Bloomberg author Mark Gurman, who stated that "red is a new flagship color being tested for iPhone Pro models in 2026."
Although the iPhone 18 series won't launch until later this year, speculation about colors has already begun. According to Gurman, Apple may consider using shades of purple and brown for the new high-end iPhone line. However, he believes these could simply be variations around the dominant red tone that Apple is considering.
If given the choice, this would be a noteworthy move by Apple. For years, iPhone Pro models have typically been associated with neutral colors such as gray, black, dark blue, or natural titanium. Adding a striking red tone could help the product line stand out more visually, while also expanding its appeal to customers who prefer bolder colors.
This move to experiment with new colors follows the success of the orange option on the iPhone 17 Pro generation. This bold color, nicknamed "Hermès orange" by users, created a positive impact in the Chinese market and became a symbol of prestige for many users. According to sources, this appeal may be the basis for Apple to be even bolder in introducing more striking colors to the Pro line.
Given that China remains one of Apple's most important markets, the choice of red seems to be deliberate. It's a color associated with good fortune in Chinese culture, and therefore could contribute to boosting sales if it's well-received.

In fact, this isn't the first time Apple has brought the color red to its products. Previously, the company collaborated with the Red organization to release deep red versions of the iPhone, most recently the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus. However, these versions were not part of the Pro line.
Conversely, regarding the rumored foldable iPhone, Gurman suggests Apple will likely take a safer approach to color. The device will likely stick to basic color tones rather than experimenting with bolder shades. This indicates the company may be carefully considering the balance between innovation and commercial strategy in each product line.
