New experiences with AI

These days, the learning atmosphere at iSchool Quang Tri seems to be more cheerful and exciting. During recess, students gather to talk about songs created with the support of AI. Everyone is happy because most of the works are composed according to their own ideas, directions, and materials. Not only are they interested in the music that blends their personal mark and the support of AI that they create, many students also listen to and analyze the songs of other students. From here, good experiences have been summarized.

Previously, at the end of 2024, iSchool Quang Tri organized a contest "Composing school songs with AI" for high school students. With the theme: "iSchool Quang Tri - The school I love", students used AI tools such as: Chat GPT, Soundraw, Suno... to create a new music product. Through this contest, iSchool Quang Tri leaders hope that students will get acquainted with new software and applications, especially AI, to broaden their horizons and improve learning efficiency.

Very quickly after that, the contest “Songwriting for school with AI” received a high response from students. Through the records, the entries all followed the theme. Each song is a beautiful story in music about school, teachers, friends...

In the videos , many students cleverly inserted meaningful images. Despite the support of AI, most of the songs in the contest still have a personal touch, clearly showing exploration and creativity. Pham Thi Xuan Sang, a 10A student, said: "If everyone relies 100% on AI and applies a stereotype, the entries will be similar and will not meet the requirements. Therefore, my friends and I have invested quite a lot."

From 60 entries in the contest “Composing school songs with AI”, 16 of the best songs were selected and posted on iSchool Quang Tri’s Fanpage. Thanks to that, the spread of the contest is growing. With high consensus, the Organizing Committee and the Jury of the contest “Composing school songs with AI” unanimously awarded 2 Gold prizes, 3 Silver prizes, 7 Bronze prizes, 6 Promising prizes and 1 Best Collective prize to groups and individuals.

Go first to pave the way

Currently, the application of AI to improve the quality of education is receiving more and more attention. In January 2021, the Prime Minister issued a national strategy on research, development and application of artificial intelligence until 2030.

Accordingly, one of the key and central tasks identified is to promote the development and deployment of artificial intelligence applications in the field of education. With a pioneering spirit, iSchool Quang Tri has quickly developed plans, goals and synchronously deployed solutions to bring AI into schools.

To do that, the leaders of iSchool Quang Tri have focused on researching and learning deeply about AI; the opportunities and challenges; how to maximize the role of artificial intelligence... On that basis, the school determined that the first priority is to arouse the spirit of leading by example in applying AI among teachers. When put into practice, the good news is that this difficult task has become easier. Because, for a long time, the staff and teachers of iSchool Quang Tri have always wanted and regularly researched and applied scientific and technological advances in teaching.

Therefore, when trained and instructed in depth, everyone absorbs and applies quickly. It is known that in the 2024 - 2025 school year, iSchool Quang Tri has 8 staff and teachers recognized as global innovative education experts honored by Microsoft.

Recently, iSchool Quang Tri Principal Duong Thi Thu Trang and teacher Tran Ngoc Thien Trang attended the Bett Asia 2024 conference held in Malaysia. This is the largest annual summit and exhibition of technology in education in Asia.

Through implementation, up to now, most of the staff and teachers of iSchool Quang Tri have become proficient in using AI. Thanks to artificial intelligence, teachers are more convenient in designing lectures, preparing lesson plans, managing scores... The lectures also become closer, more lively, and more attractive to students.

Most recently, in the provincial competition for excellent teachers, Ms. Le Canh Thuy Phuong, an English teacher at the school, was highly appreciated for applying AI to help students grasp vocabulary better. Ms. Thuy Phuong said: “Thanks to AI technology, our lessons are more exciting. The interaction between teachers and students is also enhanced.”

Recently, the Farmer 4.0 team from iSchool Quang Tri participated in the Solve For Tomorrow 2024 competition. This is a competition for middle and high school students across the country, encouraging them to proactively research and apply STEM education to solve outstanding problems, promote sustainable development and create highly commercialized products. Bringing the topic "Bringing IoT technology into the process of growing cordyceps mushrooms in Quang Tri", the entry of the iSchool Quang Tri student group excelled over thousands of topics and solutions to enter the final round. With good performance, the Farmer 4.0 team was selected and awarded the Promising prize.

Sharing about the encouraging signs in the application of AI, Principal of iSchool Quang Tri Duong Thi Thu Trang said that thanks to the proactiveness and active support of staff and teachers, more and more students in the school have become aware of the role of artificial intelligence. After being instructed, some students have learned how to use popular AI software. Not only that, they have a clear understanding of the precautions when using AI, not allowing themselves to become dependent on artificial intelligence.

Ms. Thu Trang shared: “We always encourage and motivate teachers and students to use AI wisely. In teaching and learning, AI does not replace but only increases the effectiveness of lectures and interactions between teachers and students. The role of teachers in imparting and guiding students to acquire knowledge is always the focus. Hopefully, the efforts of the school's staff, teachers and students will bring more and more achievements.”
