Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Danny Danon on December 30 issued a "final warning" to the Houthi forces, demanding an end to missile attacks against the country.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on December 30, Ambassador Danny Danon warned that the Iran-backed armed group could suffer the same "dire fate" as Hamas, Hezbollah and former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad if it continued these attacks.

According to Mr. Danon, Israel has the ability to attack any target in the Middle East, including Iran, and Tel Aviv will not tolerate attacks by proxy forces backed by this country.

"Let me repeat, look at what happened to Hamas, Hezbollah, former President al-Assad and all those who tried to destroy us. This is the final warning. This is not a threat, but a commitment. You will suffer the same dire fate," Israel's ambassador to the UN stressed.

However, just hours later, a senior Houthi leader declared that the armed group would not stop attacks against Israel.

"The attacks on Israel continue and the Houthi support for the Gaza Strip continues," Mohamed Ali al-Houthi, head of the Houthi Supreme Revolutionary Committee, said in a post on social media X.

The Houthis have repeatedly launched drones and missiles at Israel, viewing this as an act of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was only in the early stages of its campaign against the Houthis. The statement came after several Israeli strikes on targets linked to the group in Yemen, including the airport in the city of Sanaa, Yemen’s western seaport and two power plants.

Israel's removal of top leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as the fall of former Syrian President al-Assad's regime, are seen as successive major victories for Mr. Netanyahu.

Also at the Security Council meeting, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East Khaled Khiari expressed concern about the escalation of violence, calling on Houthis to stop attacks on Israel and comply with international law.
