According to European sources, AS Roma and Man Utd had agreed on a loan deal with an option to buy worth around £20 million (€25 million). This was seen as an opportunity for Sancho to revitalize his career after a period of being out of favor under managers Ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. However, the 25-year-old star decided not to move to Serie A.

Not only did Sancho reject AS Roma, he also turned down the possibility of moving to Türkiye to play for Besiktas. This has made it difficult for Man Utd to find a way out for the player who was once highly anticipated when he joined from Dortmund for nearly £73 million in 2021.
The biggest obstacle lies in Sancho's high salary. He still has one year left on his contract with Man Utd and is earning a staggering £250,000 per week. This is beyond AS Roma's financial reach. However, Sancho is unwilling to take a significant pay cut in order to leave at any cost.
The English player himself doesn't seem to be in a hurry, but is waiting for a destination that truly suits his personal ambitions.

Previously, AS Roma's head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, had spoken directly with Sancho, asserting that the Serie A environment could help him return to his peak. Sporting director Frederic Massara also negotiated detailed terms regarding salary and commission fees with Sancho's agent. However, these efforts ultimately failed to change the 2000-born player's decision.
With the transfer window about to close, Man Utd are facing the risk of continuing to burden Sancho on the bench, wasting their wage bill and providing little professional value. Meanwhile, the player himself remains steadfast in waiting for a more deserving opportunity.
