Highlights Jannik Sinner 2-0 Casper Ruud:

Entering the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters 2025, Casper Ruud carried the hope of ending a 3-match losing streak against Jannik Sinner, especially when he just won the Madrid Open championship.

However, that form was still not enough to help the Norwegian tennis player create a surprise against the world number 1 tennis player who was playing brilliantly on home ground.

With the enthusiastic cheers from the Italian audience, Jannik Sinner started the match with excitement. The home player won two consecutive breaks in Ruud's first service games and did not give his opponent a chance to fight back. After less than 30 minutes, Sinner closed the first set with a quick 6-0 victory.

In the second set, Sinner was still in complete control of the match. He broke early in the second game, then continued to break two more service games to increase the gap. The match ended with a clean win, marking an overwhelming 6-0, 6-1 victory for the world number 1.

After just 64 minutes, Sinner reached the semi-finals of the Rome Open for the first time in his career. This was also his 25th consecutive victory – an incredible run of form that has solidified his position as the No. 1 player in the ATP rankings. By reaching his 11th Masters 1000 semi-final, Sinner equaled Carlos Alcaraz’s record.

In the semi-finals, Sinner's next opponent will be American 11th seed Tommy Paul.
