Staying true to folk music , striving for creativity, and exploring new avenues to harmonize respect for traditional music with market trends—which significantly influence the success of young singers in the current era—Phuong My Chi has had a memorable experience.
With a substantial repertoire of contemporary folk music, honed through participation in several popular domestic music shows and music videos, Phuong My Chi has recently begun testing her skills on the international stage. This includes participating in the "Sing! Asia" show, with a series of stops across Asian countries. At Stop 1 in Ha Long (Vietnam), the girl born in Ho Chi Minh City achieved her first victory with a contemporary folk arrangement of "Buon Trang." And we cannot forget Phuong My Chi's impressive victory on June 27th, in the quarterfinals in Hong Kong (China), against a well-known young singer from the host country, where she performed the song "Bong Phu Hoa" in both Vietnamese and Chinese, showcasing her rich knowledge of traditional Vietnamese music.
“Sing! Asia” is an international music competition featuring 32 singers from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and more. Highly entertaining, with an international judging panel including popular music stars (Vietnam's Dan Truong was among them), “Sing! Asia” was enthusiastically received by young people across Asia, serving as a launching pad for participating singers to reach the international stage. For Phuong My Chi, the most memorable aspect of this competition wasn't necessarily her achievement, but rather the opportunity to test herself in a new international music arena and her potential to spread Vietnamese traditional culture.
