The Ao Ho Canal is heavily polluted.

Residents living along the Ao Ho canal have complained about water pollution in the canal.

According to residents, the Ao Ho canal is heavily polluted by wastewater from nearby households, direct discharge from Long Hoa market, and untreated wastewater from several production and business establishments. Along the Ao Ho canal, at the Tan Huong culvert area on Pham Thai Buong street (Thanh Dien ward), the water is covered with white foam and has a strong, foul odor.

According to a local business owner along the Ao Ho canal, the canal water emits a very unpleasant odor, affecting the lives and health of the residents. Local people have repeatedly petitioned the authorities to address the issue, but the water pollution in the Ao Ho canal has not improved.

According to the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province (formerly), the Sevin canal (Go Ken canal), also known as the Ao Ho canal, originates from the Ngoc Ha coffee shop area in Long Thanh Trung ward (now Hoa Thanh ward), and is over 2.6 km long. Due to the urban development of the former Hoa Thanh town, in addition to domestic wastewater from residents, there is also wastewater from production and business activities such as hotels, restaurants, car washes, noodle factories, tofu skin factories, etc., so the canal water is increasingly polluted, while it has not been regularly dredged.

Voters have repeatedly raised this issue. The former Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee approved the investment plan for the construction of the Hoa Thanh urban wastewater collection and treatment system with a capacity of 6,000 ^m³ /day and assigned the Tay Ninh (former) Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board as the investor. To date, 100% of phase 1 (compensation for land clearance for the construction of the plant and 2 pumping stations, and construction of some collection pipelines) has been completed, and phase 2 is 15% complete (construction of the wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 6,000 ^m³ /day, 2 pumping stations, and the collection pipeline system), with completion expected in 2026.

The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board to implement the construction of the Hoa Thanh urban wastewater collection and treatment system according to the approved schedule. The People's Committees of Hoa Thanh, Long Hoa, and Thanh Dien wards (after the two-level local government is operational) are tasked with encouraging and requesting households to connect their wastewater to this collection system. Production and business establishments must invest in and construct wastewater collection and treatment systems in accordance with regulations before discharging into the Hoa Thanh urban drainage system; and regularly dredge and clear the Ao Ho canal;.../.
