The female student who alleged her exam paper was "stolen" has just received a letter of conclusion from the Genius Olympiad organizing committee. According to the letter, the two papers are 86% identical.

The organizers of the Genius Olympiad competition have sent a response letter to LKMC - a female student who recently graduated from 9th grade in Ho Chi Minh City - regarding her accusation that another male student copied her competition entry and won an award.

In a response sent to the MC, the Genius Olympiad organizing committee (info@geniusolympiad.org) stated that they had discovered a recently submitted project that bore a high degree of similarity to the original project of another student.

Both students were mentored by the same teacher. After thorough verification, the organizers determined that the student's work contained 3-4 sentences that were identical to the original text. Additionally, there were 3-4 other sentences with a high degree of similarity, differing only in wording.

A text comparison tool revealed that the two works share 86% similarity.

Therefore, the competition organizers have taken the necessary steps to revoke the award.

In addition, the unit has taken action against the teacher supervising the project submissions as the account supervisor. The supervisor will not be able to submit any projects for the 2024 exam.

The competition organizers said they have learned from this incident and will consider strengthening measures to minimize the possibility of cheating.

For several days now, public opinion has been stirred by a post on social media by female student LKMC accusing others of wrongdoing. This student participated in the Genius Olympiad 2023 competition with two projects in two categories: music and creative writing.

Mr. NMT (a teacher at Gia Dinh High School, Ho Chi Minh City) suggested the topic and submitted MC's proposal to the organizing committee. Later, Mr. T announced that MC passed the music category but was disqualified for the creative writing section.

Later, the MC's family discovered that a similar project, titled "Chi Ly," had been registered on the competition system. When they asked Mr. T, the teacher claimed it was a coincidence.

In June 2023, while competing in the final round in the US, MC discovered that much of the information in her project had been copied by a male student named NQU into his presentation poster, which resulted in him winning a bronze medal.

QU was also a student under the supervision of teacher T. Believing their intellectual property had been "stolen," MC's family demanded that the school, teacher T, and QU's family resolve the issue.
