Vietnam recorded its highest number of international visitors in November so far this year.

The number of international visitors to Vietnam in November reached over 1.7 million, the highest in 11 months.

According to data released by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration on the morning of December 6th, Vietnam welcomed over 1.7 million international visitors in November, an increase of more than 20% compared to October and equivalent to 94% of the same period in 2019.

The largest number of visitors arrived by air, with over 1.4 million, followed by land with over 277,000 and sea with 32,000.

Overall, in the first 11 months, the number of international visitors to Vietnam is estimated at nearly 16 million, an increase of more than 40% compared to the same period in 2023 and almost reaching the target set at the beginning of the year, of 17-18 million visitors.

According to tourism experts, the surge in tourist numbers in November this year is not unusual because Vietnam is in its peak season for international visitors, from October to March. Vietnam's highest-charted month for international tourists was November 2019, with over 1.8 million arrivals.

South Korea remained the largest source of visitors to Vietnam in November, as well as for the first 11 months of the year, with nearly 400,000 arrivals. Mainland China ranked second with nearly 340,000 arrivals in November. The remaining names in the top 10 included visitors from Taiwan, Japan, India, the United States, Cambodia, and Australia.

This month saw a surge in French tourists, with over 33,000 arrivals, a 144% increase compared to October, placing France among the top 12 source markets for tourists to Vietnam. Singapore ranked 11th, with over 35,000 arrivals.

In terms of growth rate, European countries recorded the highest increases, with Poland rising by over 330% compared to October. Following closely behind were Italy, Russia, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

In the Asia- Pacific region, the high-growth source markets for tourists to Vietnam include the Philippines, Cambodia, India, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Overall, in the first 11 months of the year, South Korea continued to be the largest source market for tourists to Vietnam with 4.1 million arrivals, accounting for 26% of the international tourist market share. Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Malaysia, the United States, Australia, and Cambodia were the next largest sources. The United Kingdom was the largest source market in Europe, with over 279,000 arrivals, followed by France, Germany, and Russia.
