On April 7th, Associate Professor Dr. To Van Phuong - Head of the Training Department of Nha Trang University - confirmed that the examination board at the university had discovered two cases of candidates providing false personal information to participate in the aptitude test.
Accordingly, before the exam on the morning of April 5th, during the document check, the invigilator discovered a discrepancy in the birth years of the two candidates; one candidate's citizen identification card stated the year as 2009, while their exam notification slip showed the year as 2008.
"Normally, the 12th-grade students are those born in 2008. In exceptional cases, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will send a separate list to the examination centers for monitoring," Mr. Phuong said.
Immediately after discovering the discrepancy, the examination board asked the two candidates to leave before the exam papers were distributed in order to clarify the matter.
Working with the school, the two candidates admitted to falsifying their age in order to participate in the exam for the purpose of experiencing and self-assessing their academic abilities.
According to a representative from Nha Trang University, the exam regulations do not allow these two individuals to take the exam. However, if they meet the eligibility requirements, these two candidates may still register for subsequent exam sessions.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the first aptitude test of 2026, held on April 5th, attracted nearly 140,000 registered candidates, a record high.
The exam was held at 54 testing locations in 15 provinces and cities nationwide, including Khanh Hoa .
