
Venerable Thich Minh Nhat, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Lam Dong province, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Buddha's Birthday Celebration 2570 Buddhist Calendar - 2026 Gregorian Calendar in Da Lat on the morning of May 23.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Venerable Thich Minh Nhat, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Lam Dong province, emphasized that through the series of activities of this year's Buddha's Birthday celebration, the organizing committee hopes to contribute to introducing the image of Vietnamese Buddhism always accompanying the nation, promoting the spirit of engagement with the world, protecting the nation and ensuring peace for the people in the new era.
At the same time, it aims to build a healthy and virtuous cultural life among the people, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the community and homeland, and contributing to the construction of a peaceful, compassionate, and sustainably developed society.

Vesak, the celebration of the Buddha's birthday, commemorates the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, and is recognized by the United Nations as an international religious and cultural festival for peace. This year's event will be held in the heart of Da Lat from May 23rd to 31st, featuring a series of large-scale cultural, spiritual, and charitable activities, expected to attract tens of thousands of Venerable Monks, Buddhists, tourists, and members of the community.
The main series of activities, "Journey of Experience," includes 15 events such as the Buddha's birthday procession, the lighting of seven lotus flowers on Xuan Huong Lake, a vegetarian food and Buddhist culture fair, an exhibition of paintings titled "The Path to Enlightenment," awarding compassionate scholarships and building charity houses, a "Sharing Love" zero-cost market, and a parade of decorated floats around the center of Da Lat…
Alongside this are expanded welfare and charitable activities aimed at the local community, such as visiting and giving gifts to families who have contributed to the revolution; visiting and supporting social welfare facilities; and participating in tree planting programs to spread the spirit of environmental protection and sustainable development in accordance with Buddhist principles.

Buddhist monks and nuns are busy preparing for the "Vegetarian Food Fair" which will take place in Da Lat from May 23rd to 31st during the Buddha's Birthday week in 2026.
At the opening ceremony, the organizing committee launched creative competitions for the Vietnamese Buddhist festival, encompassing fields such as literary scripts, music , architecture, and fine arts. The competitions aim to find works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese Buddhist cultural identity in contemporary life.
