Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Bac Lieu Province Open Table Tennis Club Tournament for the Bac Lieu Newspaper Cup

On the morning of April 20th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Bac Lieu Province Open Table Tennis Club Tournament for the Bac Lieu Newspaper Cup took place at the Provincial Multi-Purpose Gymnasium. The tournament is organized by Bac Lieu Newspaper in coordination with the Bac Lieu Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center - (photo 1) .

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades Nguyen Binh Tan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee; Vo Van Luc - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial Propaganda Committee; Nguyen Duy Hoang - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism… (photo 2).

The tournament attracted over 140 athletes from 15 clubs within the province and neighboring provinces such as Soc Trang, Hau Giang, Tra Vinh , and Ho Chi Minh City. The athletes competed in five events: Open Team; Team B and C (within the province); Children's Singles; Junior Singles; and Mixed Doubles (junior and children) - (photos 3, 4).

In his opening remarks, Mr. Han Ai Tien, Editor-in-Chief of Bac Lieu Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “The 2025 Bac Lieu Province Open Table Tennis Club Tournament for the Bac Lieu Newspaper Cup is a traditional competition included in the province's annual competition plan – one of the activities in response to the campaign “All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh”. Compared to the 2024 tournament, this year's tournament has seen more strong players registering to compete in Group A. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country” - (photo 5).

The sports event was 100% socialized through contributions and support from table tennis clubs, companies, businesses, commercial banks, etc., in the province, aiming to contribute to the development of the physical training and sports movement in the province in general, and table tennis in particular. The organizing committee presented flowers and gifts to express gratitude to the sponsors of the event - (photos 6, 7).

At the opening ceremony, the organizing committee also presented prizes in a lucky draw program for the participating athletes - (photo 8)

The tournament aims to assess the quality of the table tennis movement among local clubs; provide opportunities for athletes to compete, gain experience, and improve their professional skills; contribute to the development of the sports movement; and also, on this occasion, Bac Lieu introduces and promotes the image of the land and people of Bac Lieu, and the potential and strengths of the province's culture and tourism to friends from other provinces and cities nationwide.

The tournament also provides an opportunity for members and athletes who love table tennis from all clubs in the province and table tennis clubs outside the province that have a sister-club relationship with Bac Lieu to meet, interact, strengthen solidarity, and learn from each other's experiences in training and competing in table tennis.
