Opening of Tien La festival

Tien La Festival honors the great contributions of Dong Nhung Dai Tuong Quan Vu Thi Thuc. Because of great cause and personal feelings, when Hai Ba Trung spread the proclamation everywhere, calling on the people to rise up and fight against the Han invaders, Bat Nan General Vu Thi Thuc led the army to join forces to fight against the invaders. After ascending the throne, Trung Vuong rewarded the soldiers, bestowing on her the title of Dong Nhung Dai Tuong Quan, the leader of the generals. Nearly 2000 years have passed, the relic complex worshiping Dong Nhung Dai Tuong Quan Vu Thi Thuc in the ancient land of Da Cuong Huong has gradually become worthy of the great contributions of the national hero, one of the cultural and spiritual tourist destinations not to be missed in the rice fields of Thai Binh. According to traditional customs, every year on the 10th day of the third lunar month, Tien La Festival is held at the relics of Tien La Temple, Buom Temple, and Ray Temple. These are national relics in Doan Hung Commune, Tan Tien Commune (Hung Ha). During the festival, many spiritual rituals, games and folk performances are held; many ancient customs that have been strictly maintained are reenacted. On April 15, 2016, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a decision to include Tien La festival in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

Tien La Festival is an opportunity for people from all walks of life in Hung Ha district in particular and Thai Binh province in general, together with compatriots and tourists from all over the world, to offer incense in memory of and express gratitude to the national heroine; at the same time, it contributesto educating the younger generation about the morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water, about love for the homeland, national pride, and the tradition of heroic, indomitable, and resilient struggle against foreign invaders.

Before the opening ceremony, delegates attended the ceremony of paying homage and offering incense to commemorate the merits of General Vu Thi Thuc.

Local people and tourists from all over the country watched a special art program with the theme "The Sacred Mother of Tien La" which was elaborately staged with sound and light effects and the performance of more than 50 professional singers, actors, and famous artists, including People's Artist Tu Long. In addition, there were also 150 students from Bac Duyen Ha High School and 20 students from Doan Hung Primary School, Hung Ha District. This is one of the special events, an opportunity to promote the historical and cultural values of the national historical and cultural relic complex worshiping Dong Nhung General Vu Thi Thuc to a large number of people at home and abroad.
