Medical examination and treatment on demand with new price frame

The above prices are stipulated in Circular 13/2023/TT-BYT regulating the price framework and pricing method for medical examination and treatment services upon request provided by state medical examination and treatment facilities, issued by the Ministry of Health, effective from today, August 15.

Specifically, the price range for on-demand medical examination services at special-class and class 1 hospitals is at least 100,000 VND/visit and at most 500,000 VND/visit. For other medical examination and treatment facilities, the minimum price is 30,500 VND and at most 300,000 VND/visit. The price range for on-demand treatment bed days does not include medicine and medical technical services as follows:

The Ministry of Health also clearly stated that in the case of inviting domestic and foreign personnel to examine and provide health consultation, the unit is allowed to collect fees according to the agreed price between the medical examination and treatment facility and the service user.

According to Circular 13, robotic endoscopic surgery is the most expensive service. The most expensive is robotic endoscopic surgery to treat chest diseases, with a maximum price of over 134 million VND; the minimum is over 91 million VND.

Robotic laparoscopic surgery to treat digestive and abdominal diseases, the highest price is over 124 million VND, the lowest is over 96.6 million VND.

In the list of diagnostic imaging services, the service with the highest price is PET/CT radiotherapy simulation with a maximum price of more than 28.7 million VND, the minimum price is more than 20.5 million VND, not including contrast agents. For PET/CT, the maximum price is more than 27.8 million VND, the minimum price is more than 19.7 million VND.

Treatment for patients at Viet Duc Hospital

The prices of some other high-priced medical services include: 4D color Doppler ultrasound of the heart, the price does not exceed 826,000 VND/session; 32-slice CT scan with contrast agent, the price does not exceed 1,584,000 VND/session; 262-slice CT scan or more with contrast agent, the price does not exceed 5,250,000 VND/session; coronary angiography or cardiac catheterization with DSA, the price does not exceed 10,150,000 VND/session; DSA imaging of anomalies and intervention for neurovascular diseases with DSA, the price does not exceed 23,111,000 VND/session; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with contrast agent, the price does not exceed 3,701,000 VND/session;...

The Ministry of Health said that the application of this new price frame does not affect people with health insurance cards; people without health insurance cards but do not voluntarily register to use medical examination and treatment services upon request.

The price of on-demand medical examination and treatment services only applies to those who voluntarily register to use on-demand medical examination and treatment services (accounting for 5-10% at provincial and central hospitals...).
