Mu Cang Chai ( Lao Cai province) is a famous destination every autumn with its golden terraced rice fields. Besides familiar spots like La Pan Tan or Che Cu Nha, Hang Dang De village remains a lesser-known area, possessing a pristine and peaceful beauty.

Hang Dang De village is located more than 10 km from the center of the former Mu Cang Chai district. The road to get there is mostly narrow, winding mountain passes, but in return, visitors will be able to admire the golden autumn scenery stretching across the valley.

The entire village has only a few dozen Hmong houses nestled among terraced rice fields. When the rice ripens, the entire mountainside is covered in a vibrant yellow, reflecting the sunlight and creating a characteristic landscape of the Northwest highlands.

Unlike the bustling and crowded tourist destinations, Hang Dang De still maintains a slow pace of life. Locals harvest rice from early morning, and in the evening they light fires to cook rice, with smoke drifting lazily around the mountainside.

"This year there were more visitors, but everyone was polite, and after taking photos, they greeted each other cheerfully. The villagers still harvested as usual, just hoping to keep the village clean and beautiful so that visitors would want to come back," shared a resident of Hang Dang De village.

Visitors to Hang Dang De often choose to stay in homestays with locals, experiencing a highland meal with sticky rice, grilled stream fish, wild vegetables, and a glass of fragrant corn wine.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, a tourist from Hanoi , shared: “I have been to Mu Cang Chai many times, but it's different here. It's not crowded, not chaotic, just the sound of the wind and people harvesting rice, and I feel so much lighter.”

The terraced rice fields wind along the mountainside, in layers, creating soft waves of rice stretching across the slope.

Amidst the vibrant golden rice fields of Mu Cang Chai during the harvest season, Hang Dang De village still retains its peaceful, simple, and welcoming atmosphere.

Quiet and unspoiled by commercialization, this place is gradually becoming the choice for those who want to find an authentic, simple yet captivating region of Northwest Vietnam.
