On the morning of May 10th, at Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital, the Dien Bien Provincial Children's Protection Fund, in coordination with Hanoi Heart Hospital and other relevant units, organized free cardiovascular disease screening for children in the province.
Children aged 0-16 years old receive free on-site examinations, ultrasounds, and diagnoses to detect and treat congenital heart defects early. On the morning of May 10th alone, nearly 200 children received free heart disease screening, and doctors at Hanoi Heart Hospital identified 5 children who required surgical intervention.

Previously, on May 9th, a free heart disease screening program for children took place at the Tủa Chùa Medical Center. Doctors examined 548 children, of whom 7 required surgical intervention, and 1 child needed a multi-slice computed tomography (CT) scan. This is a modern diagnostic imaging technique that uses X-rays to scan multiple slices simultaneously, combined with a computer to create detailed 2D and 3D images of body structures, helping to detect early cardiovascular diseases, cancer, injuries, and vascular problems.
As of noon on May 10th, doctors have identified 13 children in Dien Bien province who require surgical intervention. These children will receive further consultation and guidance on the procedures for receiving free treatment and surgery at the Hanoi Heart Hospital in the near future.

According to Tran Thi Tuoi, Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Children's Protection Fund, the rate of children with congenital heart disease in Dien Bien is still relatively high, especially among children of ethnic minorities in mountainous and remote areas who have limited access to healthcare.
Recently, the unit has collaborated with Hanoi Heart Hospital to organize free heart disease screenings for hundreds of children, aiming to detect heart disease early in children and thus provide timely intervention and treatment, helping them to live healthier lives.
