To ensure that all children showing signs of heart disease receive timely examination, treatment, and surgery so that they can enjoy the right to life and development like other normal children, and to facilitate access to medical services and the provision of heart surgery under government regulations for children in special and difficult circumstances, and to raise awareness and change behavior regarding children's healthcare in the community, the Cardiovascular Center of E Hospital in Hanoi is organizing free screening for all children aged 0 to 16 years old throughout the province. During the program, children receive screening, echocardiograms, blood tests, electrocardiograms, etc., to provide accurate diagnoses of their health status. Those diagnosed with heart disease receive advice on treatment methods and guidance on procedures and paperwork to receive free surgery.
Despite the hot weather, the program received participation from many families with children of appropriate age. As a result, on April 18th, doctors from the Cardiovascular Center - E Hospital in Hanoi screened 81 children, of whom 7 were indicated for surgery/intervention.
For children from disadvantaged families, poor or near-poor households who are diagnosed with heart disease and require surgery: The Lai Chau Provincial Comprehensive Social Protection Center will propose to the sponsor to request funding for the surgery, coordinate with the family and relevant units to complete the necessary documents, and arrange for referral to E Hospital in Hanoi for surgery.
The program is organized to provide children in the province with access to screening programs for early detection of congenital heart disease, giving them the opportunity for timely surgery, minimizing complications, and improving their quality of life. This contributes to the overall effort in caring for and protecting children's health, as well as supporting and mobilizing funds for heart surgery for children from poor and near-poor households.
