Video : Hung Vuong Stadium shines brightly at night.
Hung Vuong Stadium is a key component of the Hanoi International Sports City, designed with a retractable roof, environmentally friendly materials, and energy efficiency. Construction began on December 19, 2025, with an estimated total investment of over 925,600 billion VND. The project is currently under construction in Thuong Phuc commune (Hanoi).
On the evening of May 23rd, thousands of workers and machinery worked at lightning speed throughout the night. The stadium is reportedly inspired by the Dong Son bronze drums and the image of the Lac bird, aiming to host large-scale sporting and cultural events.
Currently, sections A, B, C, and D of the grandstands have been constructed. Sections A and C have reached the third level.
The stadium is located in Zone B, covering an area of over 3,118 hectares, spanning the communes of Thuong Tin, Tam Hung, Thuong Phuc, and Dan Hoa in Hanoi .
Workers are installing a dense system of materials to construct grandstand A on the evening of May 23rd.
Hung Vuong Stadium covers approximately 73.3 hectares and has a capacity of 135,000 seats according to international standards. If completed to its full scale, it will be the largest stadium in the world.
The image shows that the roof of stand C has begun to be poured on the second level.
The project is expected to be completed in mid-2027, setting a record for construction time, and is anticipated to become a new symbol of Vietnamese sports.
Besides Hung Vuong Stadium, Zone B of the Hanoi International Sports City also includes many large-scale facilities such as the Global Aquatic Arena, the Vietnam Sports Tower, and the E-Sports Arena.
Upon completion, Hung Vuong Stadium is positioned as a green and smart building, integrating AI with the ability to replace the pitch surface in 6-10 hours; smart seats connected to 5G; real-time security and crowd control; water collection and recycling saving 70% of clean water; heat and UV protection; natural ventilation reducing air conditioning energy and noise reduction…
According to the plan, Hung Vuong Stadium is expected to be completed in 2028.
Meanwhile, all components of the Olympic sports urban area are expected to be completed around 2035.
Once operational, this complex will not only be a sports center but also a modern living space, contributing to changing the face of Hanoi's suburbs.

Hung Vuong Stadium is a key component of the Olympic Sports Urban Area project. The project, spanning over 9,100 hectares with an estimated total investment of approximately 925,000 billion VND, is planned as a large-scale sports and service urban area at the southern gateway of Hanoi.

The Olympic urban area is oriented towards development in conjunction with an international-class sports complex. In terms of planning, the area covers 11 communes and wards, including: Dai Thanh, Ngoc Hoi, Nam Phu, Thuong Tin, Hong Van, Chuong Duong, Thuong Phuc, Binh Minh, Tam Hung, Thanh Oai, and Dan Hoa, and is divided into 4 sub-areas A, B, C, and D.

The Olympic urban development project aims to expand the urban space in the south and complete key transportation infrastructure systems such as Ring Road 4, the TOD (Total Development of the City) complex at Ngoc Hoi station, the North-South high-speed railway, the national railway, and the urban railway.

Along with that, a large-scale urban complex of sports, services, tourism, and ecology will be formed, with a sports complex and Olympic villages meeting regional and international standards, qualified to host continental and international sporting events such as the Asian Games (ASIAD), the Olympic Games, etc.
