Khanh Ngoc: 'I am happy to get married for the second time'

VnExpressVnExpress12/03/2024

Khanh Ngoc - singer of the hit "Crying Moon" - said she is happy to marry her Vietnamese-American boyfriend for the second time and is protected by her husband.

The singer got married in the US earlier this year and brought her son to reunite with her husband's family. On this occasion, she talked about her new life.

- How did you adapt to life in America?

- Before I brought my child over, my husband carefully arranged everything, from finding a school for my child - Kuni, 12 years old - to a suitable and convenient place to live so that my wife and child would not be confused or bewildered.

Now, both mother and son are gradually getting used to life here. Kuni is not good at English yet, so he needs more time to learn. He gets extra tutoring from teachers after school hours, so I think it will take about a year to be able to communicate well. He seems excited about his new school and has made many friends. During this time, I also take the time to learn English, exercise, cook for the family, and be a real housewife.

- What kind of pressure do you face?

- When I was still in the country, most of my time revolved around preparing clothes for singing, filming game shows, attending events, and family gatherings. When I came here, I missed home and my parents. Especially during the holidays, I felt a bit "wet" when thinking about the family reunion atmosphere.

However, I have been to the US many times to perform, so I am familiar with and understand the way of life here a little, without encountering too many difficulties. I am lucky to have found the right person who loves and cares for me and my children. My husband - Mr. Desalle Bui - is very considerate, always paying attention to his wife's mood. If he sees me sad, he will take me out or go shopping to distract me. Knowing that I am still confused with my new life, he always takes care of everything such as: admission papers, insurance. Since I came here, he has given me gifts on American and Vietnamese holidays. The most touching thing was when Tet Giap Thin was approaching, my husband bought many gifts to send back to his wife's parents. I don't know what the future will bring, but now I am truly happy with my new marriage.

- What made you change your living environment?

- I want to spend more time with my husband and children. My husband and I have been in a long-distance relationship for six years, and we feel it is time to register our marriage and live close to each other. Before, we had to travel back and forth between two places, which was both costly and impossible to take care of each other.

In the past, we could only call each other to care for each other. I was busy performing and filming game shows so we couldn’t keep up due to time zone differences. There were days when I filmed until late at night and when I got home, my child was already asleep. I hope that my current small home will help me recharge and enjoy life after months of struggling with life.

- What do you think if you have to depend on your husband when you don't sing as much as before?

- I think my husband wants us to depend on him for a long time (laughs). In America, I can still sing, but my husband told me to wait until Kuni stabilizes her studies. I think my husband wants me to spend more time with my family.

I will wholeheartedly be a happy housewife so that he can focus on his work. We do not have the concept of dependence, but each person has his own responsibilities and obligations. Coming together is not only love but also respect. Moreover, in the early stages of settling down, I need to focus on stabilizing my new life. After everything is stable, I still want to stand on stage and sing for my audience.

- At the age of 41, what do you want for your personal life?

- I feel very fulfilled when I have a happy family, my parents and siblings are all healthy, close and loving. I have a talented husband who loves me even though I have been through a broken relationship. I am grateful to my husband for filling the void for me.

In my career, I have been singing for 20 years, although my name is not too famous, it is still enough for people to remember, and I have a few hits. I have many friends, always ready to help when needed, so what more could I ask for?
