250 players compete at the 2025 National Excellent Chess Championship

On August 23, the 2025 National Excellent Chess Championship - Coolmate Cup officially kicked off. The tournament, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) in coordination with the Vietnam Chess Federation, is the tournament with the highest level of expertise in the national competition system.

The tournament brings together 250 excellent players from 25 units. In particular, the tournament witnessed the participation of leading Grandmasters of Vietnam such as: Le Tuan Minh, Tran Tuan Minh, Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Duc Hoa, Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung... along with a generation of young talents who are growing strongly such as Bang Gia Huy, Nguyen Quoc Hy, Pham Tran Gia Phuc, Dinh Nho Kiet, Tran Ngoc Minh Duy, Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong, Nguyen Hong Nhung, Nguyen Ha Khanh Linh... All promise to bring an attractive, dramatic and competitive tournament.

This year’s tournament is honored to receive the main sponsorship from Coolmate – a Vietnamese fashion brand. In particular, the winning athletes will receive cash prizes and specially designed competition outfits from Coolmate. Fashion brand Coolmate is the exclusive costume sponsor for the Vietnam Chess Federation from June 2025. In addition, the tournament also received support from co-sponsors such as: GiGa Gift, DoppelHerz, TH True Water, Thieu Nien Tien Phong Newspaper and Nhi Dong, creating a widespread and sustainable spread for the chess movement in Vietnam.

The 2025 National Excellent Chess Championship for the Coolmate Cup has 14 sets of individual chess medals, ASEAN chess, Maruk chess, for men's and women's boards.

The tournament is expected to close on September 1, 2025.
