At the end of October 1930, the Red Farmers' Association of Ha Tinh was officially established, the predecessor of today's Farmers' Association. Under the leadership of the Party, farmers of Ha Tinh and people of Nghe An created the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement of 1930-1931, establishing 170 Soviet villages, a turning point in the history of the struggle of the Vietnamese peasant class.
Through the resistance wars, the image of Ha Tinh farmers has always been associated with the spirit of "one plow and one gun", with typical movements such as "No car has passed, no house is spared", "Not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing"... The country is unified, Ha Tinh farmers steadfastly contribute to poverty eradication and new rural construction...
After 95 years of establishment and development, the Ha Tinh Farmers' Association continues to affirm its central role, connecting the Party and State's policies with each member household. Despite facing many difficulties, the association's work and the Ha Tinh farmers' movement have achieved many outstanding achievements in recent times. In particular, the emulation movement "Good farmers in production and business" is increasingly practical and effective; every year, over 105% of households register and 128% of households achieve titles at all levels (compared to the target); many models have appeared with incomes from 500 million to over 1 billion VND/year.
For example, the model of Mr. Nguyen Huu Quyen (Lien Nhat Residential Group, Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh). After 4 years of implementing the "3 in 1" agricultural model, producing organic rice, raising aquatic products and opening ecological services, Mr. Quyen was honored to receive the title of outstanding Vietnamese farmer in 2025.
Mr. Quyen shared: “From the initial 5 hectares, up to now, our Lien Nhat Agricultural and General Service Cooperative has expanded to more than 25 hectares, of which 14 hectares are used for growing high-quality rice using tray-planting technology; more than 4 hectares for aquaculture and more than 5 hectares for tourism . The annual revenue of the Cooperative is about 8 billion VND, creating stable jobs for nearly 30 local workers. The Cooperative also supports the consumption of clean agricultural products and provides technical guidance for members to expand the model.”
Along with Mr. Quyen, thousands of other members are also making efforts to renew themselves on their homeland. In village 10, Kim Hoa commune, Mr. Tran Nam Giang is a pioneer in raising wild boars with medicinal plants such as guava leaves, lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, etc. This new method helps prevent digestive diseases, increase resistance for pigs, especially mother pigs during the reproductive stage. Thanks to that, the piglets grow well, reducing the loss rate. The model effectively utilizes the area of hill gardens, available medicinal plants, reduces raising costs, improves meat quality, and meets the strict requirements of the market.
Not only raising livestock, Mr. Giang also invested in a factory processing wild boar meat under the Nam Giang brand, the product meets OCOP standards. After deducting costs, the model achieves a profit of 300-500 million VND/year.
In order to have more excellent farmers, the association at all levels in Ha Tinh has always actively implemented activities to support members. Mr. Tran Huu Duc - Deputy Head of the Farmers' Affairs Department (Provincial Farmers' Association) informed: "Over the past 2 years, more than 3,000 rural workers have been trained in vocational skills. The whole province has newly formed 337 production models, including 67 high-tech models, 101 chain linkage models, and 25 organic models. The outstanding loan balance reached more than 5,000 billion VND for over 60,000 households. The Farmers' Support Fund of the whole province reached 63,142 billion VND, contributing to unlocking resources for production development. In parallel, service activities, material supply, and product consumption support have been flexibly implemented. Dozens of safe agricultural product stores, online booths, and hundreds of branded products that meet OCOP standards have created more trust and a foothold for Ha Tinh agricultural products".
Not only developing the economy, Ha Tinh Farmers' Association also focuses on social security, becoming a spiritual support for thousands of members in difficult circumstances. In particular, recently, the association at all levels has mobilized more than 900 million VND and more than 11,000 working days to support the repair and construction of 923 new houses for poor households.
Promoting the glorious tradition of the Red Farmers' Association, the Ha Tinh Farmers' Association is writing a new page of history with intelligence, aspiration and spirit of innovation and creativity, contributing to affirming its position and becoming an important driving force to build a homeland that develops quickly and sustainably.
Mr. Ngo Van Huynh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association said: "In the new period, the task set for the Association is not only to maintain the movement of good farmers in production and business but also to create a foundation for farmers to develop comprehensively, have knowledge, digital skills and modern economic thinking. After successfully organizing the Commune Farmers' Association Congress for the 2025-2030 term, the entire association system will focus on building synchronous operating regulations, promoting the role of each key cadre, innovating gathering and working methods and improving the quality of members. At the same time, it is necessary to complete the entry of member data into the Vietnam Farmers' digital platform, promote visual propaganda with videos, clips, and expand digital communication channels to spread the example of typical farmers".
Along with production development, the Ha Tinh Farmers' Association also determined to continue promoting its role in the new rural construction program; mobilizing farmers to donate land, contribute working days, build model gardens, model residential areas, bright - green - clean - beautiful roads. At the same time, deeply participate in sustainable poverty reduction programs, voluntary social insurance, social security, arousing the spirit of mutual love, "leaving no one behind".
Mr. Ngo Van Huynh emphasized: “We want Ha Tinh farmers to not only be good at production but also know how to build brands, protect the environment, and use technology to improve product value and quality of life... Therefore, the Provincial Association will focus on training and fostering grassroots staff, ensuring that 100% of branches and groups have staff trained in working skills and updated on new policies. At the same time, we will strengthen the promotion and consumption of agricultural products and OCOP products, support farmers in connecting to markets, bringing products to e-commerce platforms, and linking production with experiential and ecological tourism...”.
