To commemorate the 85th anniversary of the birth of musician Trịnh Công Sơn, the Huế City government organized a ceremony to unveil a statue at Trịnh Công Sơn Park in Gia Hội ward. Hundreds of fans of Trịnh Công Sơn's music and admirers of the late musician attended the ceremony.
The statue of the late musician Trinh Cong Son, seated and holding a guitar, is made of bronze, weighs 500 kg, is 1.7 m high, 1.6 m wide, and 2.3 m long, and was created by the late sculptor Truong Dinh Que. The statue is placed in the center of a 6.2-hectare park, facing the Perfume River. The pedestal for the statue was designed by architect Ho Viet Vinh.
Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, said that the authorities have made efforts to renovate the park to enhance the overall landscape of Hue city and the Perfume River waterfront, images that are indispensable in Trinh Cong Son's music. The place where the statue is located will be a stop for those who admire the late musician's talent to learn more about his life and career, and the place where he composed his first songs.
Following the statue's unveiling ceremony, a musical program commemorating the late musician Trịnh Công Sơn was also held, featuring singers such as Đức Tuấn and Trịnh Vĩnh Trinh.
Composer Trịnh Công Sơn was a native of Thừa Thiên Huế , born in 1939 and passed away on April 1, 2001. He left behind over 600 songs, of which 236 are widely popular. His works are beloved by many generations for their profound humanistic philosophy and expression of deep love for humanity, his homeland, and his country.
