FIRST EVER FRUIT FESTIVAL
Fruit production is one of Dong Thap province's strengths after the merger. The entire province currently has about 135,000 hectares of fruit trees with diverse varieties, including many specialty products that have established their own brands.

Durian trees have helped many families in the province escape poverty and become wealthy.
In the context of agriculture shifting strongly towards modern, green, and sustainable production, Dong Thap's organization of the first Fruit Festival demonstrates the local government's determination to build a brand for its distinctive agricultural products.
This is also an opportunity to connect farmers, businesses, scientists, and the market. At the same time, it creates momentum to promote the development of agricultural economy linked with experiential tourism.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the first Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026, themed "Dong Thap - Land of Sweet Fruits," will be held at Hung Vuong Square (Dao Thanh Ward).
The theme not only evokes the richness of the alluvial land but also expresses the aspiration to bring Dong Thap's distinctive fruits further into domestic and international markets.

The festival will feature many unique and diverse main activities. The highlight will be the opening ceremony, taking place from 8 PM to 10 PM on June 5th at Hung Vuong Square, with the participation of approximately 800 delegates and will be broadcast live.
The closing ceremony took place at 7 PM on June 8th. Another highlight was the exhibition space showcasing the value chain of the fruit industry in Dong Thap province.
Here, the province will display and introduce fruit models, seedlings, fresh fruit, processed fruit products, safe farming practices, and overall achievements in Dong Thap's fruit industry.
This space is expected to help people, businesses, and tourists gain a more comprehensive understanding of the potential for developing fruit production in Dong Thap in the new phase.
MANY TRADE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES
In addition, the festival also includes a trade fair and exhibition promoting fruits, fruit products, OCOP products, and specialties of the Mekong Delta region.

Dong Thap has one of the largest areas of fruit tree cultivation in the country.
The fair will feature approximately 120 booths from communes, wards, businesses, cooperatives, etc., in Dong Thap and neighboring provinces and cities. This will be an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products, seek partners, expand their markets, and strengthen trade connections.
Beyond simply promoting products, the festival also aims to enhance the value of the industry through specialized workshops such as: "Farmers 4.0 and organized raw material areas," "Developing supply chains for key fruit products of the province," and "Building and developing brands for key agricultural products of the province."
The workshops will focus on discussing the role of farmers in the digital age, and how to strengthen linkages and organize raw material areas.
Through specialized workshops, many solutions for developing sustainable raw material areas, promoting smart agriculture, developing key fruit industry chains, and building agricultural product brands will be proposed. This is considered a necessary step for the province's fruit industry to better adapt to market demands.
In addition to the main activities and supporting events, the Festival also organizes many communication and promotional activities such as: overall design, decoration, layout and communication work; press conference to announce the Festival; media and social media communication activities and creation of promotional publications; and production of video clips about specialty fruits. |
In addition, the festival also features an exhibition space showcasing Dong Thap's tourism products. This is also one of the main activities at the festival, organized with the aim of introducing and promoting the province's tourism to a wide range of domestic and international tourists.
In particular, the water and light show and the artistic mapping performance "Listen to the River Tell Its Story" promise to create a rich spiritual experience for locals and tourists during the festival.
Besides the main activities, the Festival also organizes supporting activities such as: the photo exhibition "The Beauty of the Countryside and Riverine Region"; the "Attaching Age to Trees and Fruits" activity space honoring gardeners with many-year-old trees; the art competition of arranging fruit models "Dong Thap - Sweetness of the Alluvial Soil, Richness of the Land"; the culinary competition and exhibition of delicious dishes made from Dong Thap fruits "Flavors of the Pink Lotus Land"; the "Charming Orchard" competition; the "Dong Thap Youth - Spreading the Value of Sweet Fruits of the Homeland" festival; a week of specialty fruit products at some modern distribution systems and e-commerce platforms nationwide; the "Mekong Delicacies" culinary space; supporting activities organized in communes and wards; livestream sales, introduction, promotion, and business of fruits and fruit products; and Famtrip experiences of green tourism and agricultural tourism. Running alongside the event, featuring outfits and designs inspired by fruits, is called the "Fruit Run."
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the festival is organized to honor the specialty fruits of Dong Thap, the Mekong Delta region, and the whole country. This is an opportunity for the province to promote, introduce, and sell specialty fruits in the domestic market and for export.
The festival will contribute to promoting the beautiful image of Dong Thap, the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta region in particular, and Vietnam in general, with the aim of promoting trade, investment, and tourism.
Dong Thap aims for the festival to be organized meticulously, solemnly, economically, and effectively, creating a lasting impression and spreading widely to the people and businesses.
Therefore, all activities are geared towards celebrating the diversity of Vietnamese fruits, focusing on key varieties with high economic value and significant development potential.
At the same time, the festival also showcases advanced production models, post-harvest technology solutions, especially deep processing, circular economy, and digital transformation in the fruit value chain.
It is evident that the combination of commercial activities, culture, tourism, and digital transformation at this festival shows that Dong Thap is moving towards a new approach in promoting its agricultural products.
Beyond simply showcasing products, the locality also aims to tell the story of its land, people, orchard culture, and the journey of creating its renowned fruits.
