Typhoon Matmo swept through the North, leaving behind long, cold, wet nights.
The rain seemed to swallow the whole town, the wind was so strong that it seemed to sweep everything away.
On the internet, calls for help appear densely with overlapping and intermittent addresses, phone numbers, coordinates...
Who to save first, and how?
In the chaos of information and despair, one can only wait.
That question haunted Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, a former student ofFPT University Hanoi, currently an AI Product Manager, in charge of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data applications for a technology company. Instead of just following the news, she and her friend Tat Huan chose to use the strength of technology to help save people.
On the night of October 7, they started building the thongtincuuho.org platform , a digital system that collects, synthesizes and locates calls for help, then automatically transfers the information to the nearest rescue team.
Servers are constantly upgraded, filters are fine-tuned, AI is integrated to eliminate data duplication.
And each line of code typed is a hope sent. And after just a few hours, the platform became a “living map” in the eye of the storm, helping rescuers quickly identify hundreds of flooded areas, shortening precious minutes to reach people.
No superheroes, no capes.
Just two young people who believe that technology is not just for making a living, but can also save lives.
Amid the raging waters, they turned data into action, code into compassion.
