For us, the U80 - U90 generation, those who have followed the Party for decades, we all expect an open space, a rich diversity of resources and minerals, and sustainability from a culture with long-standing roots and the diversity of a new Thai Nguyen.
With a material foundation created by the renovation process, we are gradually acquiring more necessary and sufficient conditions in all aspects to realize the expectation of a brighter future. In this article, I would like to say a few words about tourism potential - an outstanding potential of the new Thai Nguyen province.
More than 30 years ago, I had the opportunity to accompany a Canadian female agricultural expert to Dong Hy district (old) to work, on a ferry from Gia Bay bridge to Van Lang commune. For more than three hours on the river, the female expert did not say anything about agriculture, but only absorbed in admiring the beautiful scenery along the river and continuously asked questions about the river…
I told the interpreter: She should be a tourism expert. I don't know what the interpreter said, but I saw the female expert laugh happily and say: Every expert is an economic expert. Then she advised: If you want to get rich, you can't ignore tourism, this is something you have potential. When we parted, the female expert also said: Thank you for giving me an interesting river tour.
Looking at our new province, this potential is indeed rich. We are blessed by nature with many poetic and charming landscapes. For example, Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in the country, is one of the 20 special freshwater lakes in the world, with a water surface area of about 500 hectares, from 20m to 30m deep. There are two small islands floating in the middle of the lake, one shaped like a horse with reins wading in the water named An Ma, the other is Ba Goa Island.
The lake is surrounded by limestone mountains, with many caves and underground streams, sometimes hidden, sometimes visible. Ba Be Lake is gradually becoming the center of tourism in the midland and mountainous areas of the North. In addition, Thai Nguyen also has many other beautiful landscapes, such as: Nui Coc Lake, Phuong Hoang Cave...
Most special is the Than Sa archaeological site (in the old Vo Nhai district) with Phieng Tung cave and Tiger's Mouth cave. With the results of research on the site in Than Sa, archaeologists have determined that there was a Than Sa archaeological culture from the Paleolithic era, its owners were Homo sapiens (wise humans).
During the resistance war against the French, Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen were the centers of the “Windy Capital”, so both places have many revolutionary historical relics. There are many ethnic minorities living in the area. The cultural identity of each ethnic group, creating the diversity and uniqueness of each locality, is being preserved as a priceless heritage, from house architecture, living customs to production practices, community relations, and villages.
With these characteristics, Thai Nguyen's tourism potential is very rich and diverse; especially experiential tourism - a very developed type of tourism today.
If in the previous merger to become Bac Thai, we lacked many conditions so the effectiveness of the merger at that time was just an incomplete addition, then now we have enough basis to believe that after this merger, Thai Nguyen will have stronger development, to enter a new era with the whole country.
