In recent days, practical activities in response to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (2025) have been taking place enthusiastically throughout the province, attracting the participation of all segments of the population, especially students. This contributes to fostering a passion for reading and developing a reading culture within the community.

Students from Tan Thanh Primary and Secondary School in Cao Duong commune (Luong Son district) read books at the provincial library's mobile library vehicle.

Bao Ngoc, a student at Song Da Primary School (Hoa Binh City), was delighted to join her classmates in actively contributing to a piggy bank to save money for buying books and stories for the classroom library. Bao Ngoc shared: "I'm very happy to have contributed a small part in buying books to add to the class library so that my classmates can read and learn more useful knowledge through good books and stories."

Not only Song Da Primary School, but all schools in the province have organized activities to celebrate the 4th Vietnam National Book of Literature and Arts. Schools have organized diverse forms of reading promotion such as: disseminating information about the significance of Vietnam National Book of Literature and Arts, introducing books, storytelling based on books, book review competitions, drawing, dressing up as literary characters, book-related games, photo contests of favorite reading corners…; focusing on implementing library lessons and building reading habits for students, especially at the primary school level. The Department of Education and Training encourages units to build classroom book shelves, family book shelves, and clan book shelves, while also launching book donation programs to support students in remote, disadvantaged, and particularly difficult areas. The circulation of books, newspapers, library resources, and the organization of reading clubs are also being promoted…

With the message "Reading culture - connecting communities", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity", the 4th Vietnam National Book Fair and Cultural Festival took place from April 15th to May 2nd nationwide.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Trung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, said: Reading culture plays a very important role in life, because books are the repository of all human knowledge throughout the history of human development, inventions, and creations. Reading books brings knowledge and awareness to people, guides the future of life and society; and promotes economic and scientific development. Paying attention to developing reading culture is a necessary and ongoing task that the Provincial Library has implemented in recent years. In response to this year's Vietnam National Book Fair, the Provincial Library advised the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate the organization of exhibitions and displays of books and publications at Tan Thanh Primary and Secondary School in Luong Son district and Lap Chieng Primary and Secondary School in Kim Boi district.

On March 28, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent a document to departments, agencies, districts, cities, and book publishing businesses in the province regarding the launch of the movement to respond to Vietnam's National Book and Book Fair in 2025 with practical contents. These include organizing activities to promote the significance of this day to encourage self-learning and raise awareness of the role of books in personal and social development. The movement also aims to promote reading in schools, agencies, businesses, and communities through activities such as introducing good books, storytelling based on books, book-related seminars, and organizing book reading festivals.

Continue to build and develop the reading movement, promote a reading culture among the people, aiming to build a learning society, with particular emphasis on students, inspiring them to strive to become useful citizens. Enhance the responsibility of all levels, sectors, and organizations in creating, promoting, and preserving books in the province; call for the participation and contributions of the community to make the Vietnam Book and Book Promotion event a meaningful annual activity that attracts the attention and positive response of society. At the same time, encourage the establishment and development of book collections and libraries in schools, agencies, and localities; mobilize book donations to support disadvantaged areas in accessing knowledge.

In particular, technology should be applied to develop a reading culture by utilizing e-book platforms and online reading applications, improving reading comprehension skills, and accessing information from reliable sources. The development of new reading formats such as e-books, audiobooks, interactive books, and applications using artificial intelligence and virtual reality should be encouraged. Online reading clubs should be organized, and forums for discussing works should be created through platforms such as Zoom, Skype, and Google Meet.
