Recognizing that fostering and nurturing reading habits among students is an ongoing effort, Tien Hai Secondary School (Lam Ha Ward, Phu Ly City) has invested heavily in resources over the years to promote the role of the school library, thereby developing a reading culture and spreading a love of books. To encourage students to read, the school has invested in building a spacious, well-equipped Level 2 library with computers, pictures, maps, etc., to serve the reading needs of teachers and students. The library houses over 7,500 diverse and abundant books and newspapers, including textbooks, reference books, law books, children's stories, and more. The library is open every day of the week for the convenience of teachers and students to read, research, and study. Monthly, or according to specific monthly themes, during the weekly flag-raising ceremony, the school organizes activities to introduce age-appropriate books, helping to encourage students to read regularly. In addition, the school also encouraged students to participate in school-level competitions such as "Drawing based on book pages" and the "Reading Culture Ambassador" competition, attracting a large number of students.

In addition to focusing on investing in and maintaining the school library with over 10,000 books and newspapers of various kinds for teachers and students to read and research teaching materials and borrow books to take home, since the end of 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School has also built a Book Club model with the aim of improving students' reading culture. This goal is concretized in two aspects: increasing the number of books and reading time; and increasing the effectiveness of reading for each student. Initially, the club only had about 10 students participating, but after a short time, due to its effective operation, the Book Club has received the support of a large number of students who love books. The Book Club operates under the motto of "Accumulating knowledge, nurturing the soul, and cultivating thinking." Over the years, the club has collaborated with, participated in, and supported school activities such as dramatizing literary works and organizing book reading festivals. Simultaneously, it organizes book exchange and introduction activities; critiques literary and social issues raised in books; and shares effective reading experiences. In May, the Book Club will also be the main human resource involved in organizing and supporting activities for the 2025 Book Reading Festival.

Focus on developing a reading culture for students.

Students from Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School ( Hanoi University of Education's Ha Nam branch) read books in the school library.

Ms. Doan Thanh Huong, the school's Vice Principal, said: "Every year, the school regularly adds books to the library with a diverse range of titles suitable for students of all ages. In addition, the school organizes many activities to provide students with more access to books; organizes visits to other libraries; and encourages students to study independently in the library outside of school hours. Through these activities, we contribute to fostering a love of books among students, helping them develop a passion for reading, and most importantly, providing them with a healthy form of entertainment, keeping them away from social vices."

Carefully reading each page of the book "Seeds of the Soul," Nguyen Bao Ngoc, a student in class 11D2 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, said: "I often go to the library when I have free time or before exams. Regularly reading books not only helps me improve my reading skills, but also adds to my knowledge of history, society, and life skills."

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, currently 100% of schools in the province have established healthy library spaces to help students cultivate reading habits, contributing to nurturing their souls and forming good character traits. Each school will have different ways of developing a reading culture, and each teacher will also have different methods to foster a love of books in students, but all aim towards the goal of helping students appreciate books, acquire knowledge, develop independent and creative thinking, and promote lifelong learning.
