Three suspects have been charged in connection with a gambling ring worth over 13 billion VND.

On November 11th, the Investigation Police Department of Dong Hoi City ( Quang Binh Province) announced that it had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and order their temporary detention in connection with a multi-billion VND gambling ring.

Previously, around the beginning of August 2023, the investigating agency verified that the suspect Cao Vu Trong (33 years old, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City) had created accounts to conduct online football betting. Trong then further distributed accounts to subordinates, including one account for Nguyen Duc Long (26 years old, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City) and four accounts for Thai Minh Khoa (24 years old, Dong Le Town, Tuyen Hoa District) to participate in.

Nguyen Duc Long further divided his account into five other accounts to participate in gambling with an amount exceeding 2 billion VND; Thai Minh Khoa used the assigned account to gamble with an amount of nearly 4.9 billion VND. In addition, Khoa also divided his account to provide to other suspects to participate in gambling with an amount of 6.6 billion VND.

Through investigation, authorities determined that the total amount of money involved in gambling related to the three defendants was over 13 billion VND, and seized three mobile phones from the defendants. Defendant Cao Vu Trong was charged with organizing gambling, while the other two defendants were charged with participating in gambling.
