Completed in 2018 with a total capacity of approximately 70,000 seats, Optus Stadium quickly rose to become one of the top three largest and most modern stadiums in Australia. Just one year after its opening, the elliptical stadium won the Prix Versailles award for the world's most beautiful stadium. In July 2022, it was honored as Place of the Year at the Stadium Business Awards in Manchester, England.

Interestingly, Optus Stadium originated from… a landfill. Construction began in December 2013 and, upon its public opening, the stadium is renowned not only for its grand scale and superior design but also for its sustainability, utilizing solar energy and a water recycling system. The lightweight fabric roof covers 85% of the seating and is well-suited to Perth's climate. The stadium has received numerous environmental certifications, reflecting the city's vision towards developing projects that are both artistically significant and environmentally friendly.

Optus Stadium is also considered the "heart" of major sporting events in Perth.
