'There will be no Táo Quân 2026'

Vân Dung shared that Táo Quân will not be broadcast during the Lunar New Year 2026. This information has left many viewers disappointed and regretful.

On the evening of January 6th, artist Van Dung posted on her personal page confirming that the Tet Comedy Show (Tao Quan) will not be broadcast during the Lunar New Year 2026.

Specifically, Van Dung shared a poem expressing her sadness and regret at the show's absence, and stated that after more than 20 years of involvement, Tao Quan had become an indispensable part of her professional life.

"This year I can't compete in the festivities/ There's no Táo Quân (Vietnamese New Year's Eve comedy show), so I'm very sad. Sometimes tears well up/ Sometimes I watch dragonflies flying by. This New Year's Eve/ I'm sure there will still be many wonderful programs," Vân Dung wrote.

In the comments section, many viewers expressed disappointment and regret at this news. Many opinions suggested that Táo Quân (the annual New Year's Eve comedy show) is an indispensable "spiritual treat" every New Year's Eve, while some viewers noted that 2026 will have many noteworthy current events and cultural issues, and the absence of Táo Quân would make the Tet atmosphere less complete.

The Táo Quân 2025 program received much praise.

Previously, information circulating on social media suggested that the Táo Quân (Kitchen Gods) show might not air on New Year's Eve of the Year of the Horse (2026), causing confusion among many viewers. This stemmed from a cryptic post by Vân Dung, in which the actress hypothesized a scenario without Táo Quân, sparking much speculation.

At that time, People's Artist Tu Long and Meritorious Artist Chi Trung both stated that they had not received official notification about the program's cancellation.

Speaking to VTC News, the production team stated that they are currently preparing and considering various content options. It is highly likely that the traditional Táo Quân format will not be broadcast; instead, a new version or another program with a similar spirit may be aired.

Táo Quân - Gặp nhau cuối năm (The Kitchen Gods - Meeting at the End of the Year) is a satirical comedy show broadcast on New Year's Eve, established in 2003. It reflects prominent current events and social issues of the past year in a satirical and humorous way. Over two decades, the program has become a familiar "spiritual treat," closely associated with the moment of transition into the new year for many generations of Vietnamese viewers.

Throughout its run, Táo Quân has repeatedly adjusted its content and format to suit the social context. In 2020, the program was temporarily suspended and replaced by Làng Vũ Đại thời hội nhập (Vũ Đại Village in the Era of Integration ), before returning in 2021.
