At around 1:00 p.m. on November 19, on Han Thuyen Street (leading to the University of Information Technology and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), many students sat in the back of a motorbike being taken to school by their friends but were not wearing helmets.
Some people even use hooded jackets to cover their heads, both to protect themselves from the sun and to replace their helmets. Many students run to school despite the traffic.
This situation also happened on Mac Dinh Chi street (passing through the gate of dormitory area B, Ho Chi Minh City National University).
According to Tuoi Tre Online , At around 2:00 p.m. on November 19 on Mac Dinh Chi Street, within just 15 minutes of observation, there were 5-6 vehicles passing by without the driver or passenger wearing a helmet.
Even a motorbike carrying three people, two of whom sat in the back without helmets.
Selling snacks on Mac Dinh Chi street, Ms. HTP said she often sees many students not wearing helmets when riding motorbikes.
"Sometimes students hitchhike with friends and don't have helmets. They think it's okay because they're just riding around the village," Ms. P. added.
Recorded on Ta Quang Buu Street (passing through the front gate of dormitory area A, Ho Chi Minh City National University) at the end of school on the afternoon of November 19, the scene of many students riding without helmets was quite common.
On the afternoon of November 20, on Luu Huu Phuoc Street (in front of the Student Cultural House), many groups of students without helmets were driving and talking freely. Not far away, on T1 Street (in front of the University of Natural Sciences), the situation was similar.
According to records, this is a busy road with frequent traffic.
QLTQ (20 years old, student at a school in the university village) said: "Before, when I was in a hurry or someone wanted a ride, I would give my dad a ride for convenience. Since it was only a short distance, I was too lazy to wear a helmet.
Recently, seeing that the traffic police are tightening up on this issue, I've stopped hitting my dad and am wearing a proper helmet."
