Working throughout the Lunar New Year holiday.
As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches in 2025, officials, inspectors, and workers of the Quang Nam Department of Transport's Inspectorate are busy preparing for the holiday with their families, but they haven't forgotten their assigned duties: strengthening inspections of transport services and protecting transportation infrastructure. They proactively coordinate with functional forces to ensure traffic order and safety, and minimize congestion. "We conduct on-site inspections to assess the situation on various routes and ensure traffic safety at construction sites on roads. Before, during, and after Tet, the task force will be present at Tam Ky bus station, Chu Lai airport; and the Tam Quang - Tam Hai, Tam Hoa, and Cua Lo river ferry terminals in Nui Thanh district," said Inspector Nguyen Hong Hai, in charge of the task force in southern Quang Nam.
Mr. Truong Van Son, Chief Inspector of the Quang Nam Department of Transport, shared that in implementing the plan to ensure traffic safety and order in conjunction with disease prevention and control during the Tet and Spring Festival 2025, the unit has issued a decision to inspect compliance with legal regulations on traffic safety on roads, river ferry terminals; and transport activities and support services at bus stations and parking lots.
The tasks to be carried out were thoroughly explained to the working groups. Regarding road safety, inspectors are responsible for checking the condition of the road surface to ensure traffic flow before and during Tet (Lunar New Year); and ensuring traffic safety at construction sites along the routes. Regarding road transport, inspections focus on the condition and standards of vehicles; vehicle operators; and the legal status of parking lots.
According to Mr. Truong Van Son, for passenger transport across the river, the task forces inspect professional competency certificates, driver's licenses; technical safety and environmental protection inspection certificates of the vehicles; vehicle registration certificates; life-saving and rescue equipment on the vehicles; the number of passengers allowed, environmental hygiene, and other relevant regulations. Even before the Tet holiday, continuously from January 20th to January 24th, 2025 (i.e., from the 21st to the 25th of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), the task force in charge of northern Quang Nam inspected traffic safety on national highways (QL) 14B, DT609, DT609B, DT609C, QL14H, QL14D, DT605; and the passenger ferry terminals at Tinh Dong Tay - Dong Phuoc, Dau Go - Tam Hiep (Dai Loc district), and Dai Loc bus station.
For the safety of the people
On the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the task force in northern Quang Nam, consisting of three members, continued its duties at the North Quang Nam bus station (Dien Ban town), then traveled up to Dai Loc district to assess the operations of the Tinh Dong Tay - Dong Phuoc river ferry terminal.
Inspector Thai Minh Hoang, in charge of the task force in northern Quang Nam, said that on the 5th day of Tet (Lunar New Year), members conducted field visits to Nam Phuoc bus station (Duy Xuyen district) and Ong Doc 1 - Ong Doc 2 river ferry terminals (Dien Ban town); and on the 4th day of Tet, they went on a "covert tour" to Dai Loc bus station and Dau Go - Tam Hiep river ferry terminal. "We encouraged each other to be determined to perform our assigned tasks well, contributing to the overall success of the Tet passenger transport campaign for the transportation sector, ensuring safe travel for all segments of the population during the spring festival," Mr. Thai Minh Hoang shared.
According to Mr. Le Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Department of Transport, the Department's Inspectorate is one of the key units of the industry specifically assigned to implement the plan to serve the travel needs of the people and ensure traffic safety during Tet and other spring festivals in 2025. In addition to other tasks, this unit will also strengthen inspections of transport services, compliance with regulations on business and transport business conditions, and strictly handle violations; focusing on inspecting passenger transport by car to and from Chu Lai Airport.
It is predicted that after the 9-day Tet holiday, a large number of people will return to major cities to continue living, working, and studying, especially in the southern provinces and cities. Therefore, inspection forces will intensify checks and strictly handle the situation of illegal taxis and unauthorized bus stops, disguised vehicles, overloaded cargo vehicles, and vehicles carrying more passengers than allowed; and receive and process information on the situation of booking tickets via phone and charging fares higher than the declared and listed prices as regulated.
Urge inland waterway terminals to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations, carry only the permitted load capacity of their vessels, and adhere to regulations regarding the conditions for conducting waterway transport business.
Mr. Truong Van Son stated that, in addition to road and inland waterway transport, the unit's leaders will closely monitor and conduct on-site inspections with working groups to address violations of regulations on protecting transportation infrastructure. They will remind project management units and contractors resuming construction after the Lunar New Year to pay attention to ensuring traffic safety according to approved plans, especially on routes that are under construction while also being used. They will also monitor the situation and promptly report any newly arising shortcomings or damage on provincial and national highways that pose a risk to traffic safety to the Department of Transport's leadership for corrective action and handling of violations.
