Memory chip crisis pushes Chinese smartphones into a deadlock

The global smartphone industry is struggling as memory chip prices have skyrocketed nearly 50% in just a few months. According to Jiemian News, Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo were forced to suspend purchases as DRAM inventory was less than three weeks left.
Chipmakers like Samsung and SK hynix prioritize selling to servers at a 30% premium. AI and data center demand has cut NAND flash supply, pushing prices to record levels.
The prices of mid-range and high-end smartphones have increased by 100-500 yuan, with the OPPO Find X9 alone increasing by 900 yuan. SMIC confirmed that many smartphone orders were delayed due to a serious shortage of memory chips. Supply chain says only Apple has the power to force chipmakers to offer reasonable prices.
