A common feature of theaters in Ho Chi Minh City is that, in addition to new plays scheduled for the Lunar New Year, theater owners also add many older plays, creating a rich performance schedule spanning from the first to nearly the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. Many theaters even schedule two performances per day. According to artist Dinh Toan, artistic director of IDECAF theater: "People are often too busy to go see plays on normal days, so they take advantage of the Lunar New Year. Utilizing old plays is a good approach, creating a vibrant performance schedule while saving costs." Theater owner Ai Nhu revealed: "Some audience members have seen a play before and still buy tickets to see it again, which is very touching. I schedule two performances per day so that audiences have more choices."

In particular, Meritorious Artist Phuong Hong Thuy, a beloved Cai Luong actress, returned to Vietnam for Tet this year and was immediately retained by the theater owners Ai Nhu and Thanh Hoi of Hoang Thai Thanh Theater to play the lead role in the play " 29 Anh Ve" (29 Brothers Return ). Phuong Hong Thuy's portrayal of the teacher Dieu Hoai, a truly tragic and beautiful character, captivated the audience.

IDECAF Theatre usually stages folk comedies during Tet (Lunar New Year), and this year, "The Thief's Village" caused a sensation in the auditorium. It was funny but also very "bitter," satirizing hypocrisy. Meanwhile, Theatre 5B was bustling with two brand-new children's plays, a Tet "specialty" for kids. Besides that, 5B also performed both old and new adult plays. "The New Tent Village, " hastily erected before Tet, was short, concise, meaningful, and charmingly humorous. Quoc Thao Theatre also quickly rehearsed "The Million Dollar Island War ," presenting a rare musical that was youthful, vibrant, suspenseful, and surprising, captivating the audience.
This year, the Youth World Theatre continued to sell tickets well, just like in previous years. Among them , "Million Dollar Birthday" was the funniest, most intelligent, full of plot twists, and deeply meaningful about human character. The Hong Van Theatre attracted audiences with the horror play "The Ghost Wife Part 3" and the comedy " Catching Fish with Three Hands." People's Artist Hong Van said: "Even during Tet (Lunar New Year), audiences don't hold back anything, especially the younger generation who still enjoy ghost plays and thrill-seeking. But interwoven within the ghost stories are moral lessons, and we have effective ways of conveying them." Perhaps the most memorable performances belonged to "Sister Hang's Daughter " (Truong Hung Minh Theatre) and "The Man Going Against the Current" (Thien Dang Theatre), two tragedies, two heartbreaking sorrows, yet deeply etched in the audience's memory.
