According to initial information, in the afternoon of the same day, some people burned vegetation to make way for fields, causing the fire to spread into the planted forest and natural forest area in lot 25, compartment 1, sub-compartment 664 managed by the People's Committee of Ia Din commune.
The district People's Committee mobilized about 50 people including Ia Din commune officials, commune militia and local residents to join in extinguishing the fire. By about 7 p.m. on May 1, the fire was completely extinguished.
Through records, the authorities determined the burned area was about 5-6 hectares. The fire mainly burned the ground cover, causing no damage to forest resources.
The District People's Committee also warned people to be careful when using fire sources to avoid similar fires.
