The competition featured 17 gong and drum ensembles with hundreds of artisans from various communes and wards in the area. The teams performed acts rich in cultural identity, reenacting daily life activities; showcasing traditional musical instruments and folk songs, and excerpts from typical traditional rituals and festivals. In addition, 10 artisans demonstrated their gong tuning techniques and skills, contributing to the preservation of the ethnic minority culture.

According to Phan Ngoc Dinh, Vice Chairman of the Kon Tum City People's Committee, the competition is an important cultural event, contributing to honoring, preserving, and promoting the unique cultural values of the Central Highlands gong culture – an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Through this, ethnic groups in the area can engage in cultural exchange, increasing solidarity, understanding, and mutual support. It is also an opportunity for Kon Tum city to promote the image of its people, nature, and tourism potential and strengths to visitors. This will expand opportunities to attract investment, promote characteristic products, and link the development of the local economy , culture, and tourism.

The gong and drum culture is considered by ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands in general, and Kon Tum province in particular, as the living soul of their culture, passed down from generation to generation. However, the number of people who know how to play the gongs and drums is no longer as large as before, and most of the artisans are elderly. Through competitions, ethnic minority communities can both preserve and sustainably develop their unique cultural features, and also have the opportunity to pass on the beauty of their ethnic culture to the younger generation; aiming to promote the value of the gong and drum cultural heritage.
