Two new records were set on the track of the international marathon Mekong Delta Hau Giang 2 on July 2023. Hoang Nguyen Thanh has long been Vietnam's top athlete in the 16.7km race, so he didn't have any trouble when he crossed the finish line spectacularly.
Importantly, Hoang Nguyen Thanh set a time of 2 hours 37 minutes 4 seconds, breaking the record of rival Bui The Anh, who won this tournament in 2020 with a record of 2 hours 37 minutes 46 seconds. Thanh won a prize of VND 17 million for the winner, and also received an additional VND 50 million for a new record. The organizers include Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, Nexus Company also gave Nguyen Thanh a special reward: participating in 1 of 6 prestigious marathons in the world.
Similarly, Le Thi Tuyet also received the same prize as Hoang Nguyen Thanh of VND 67 million.
Men's and women's 21 km first prize belongs to Le Huu Loc and Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh, the first prize of 5 km is Nguyen Anh Tri and Tran Anh Thu. In addition, BTC also awarded prizes from 4th to 10th place for the first time for the men's and women's 42 km content and awarded prizes to clubs, teams, and ages.

In addition to professional success, the highlight of this tournament is to continue to maintain tree planting activities on the green route "Mekong Delta Marathon Hau Giang", in order to promote the message of green Hau Giang, fighting climate change, building green, clean and beautiful Hau Giang province".
This is the fourth time the tournament has taken place in Hau Giang with an ever-expanding scale. In 2019 with only 4.200 athletes, by 2020 it will be 7.200 athletes, in 2021 it will be interrupted due to the Covid-19 epidemic, and by 2022 it will increase to 8.500 athletes, including 47 athletes from 18 foreign delegations. This time, the number of nearly 9.000 athletes shows that the growth of the tournament is increasingly attracting a strong attraction.
