Expectations to "reconnect" with the main customer base.

From now until the end of the year, many new flight routes to Da Nang are expected to be restored and opened. This is a positive sign for the city's tourism market in the remaining months of the year and in anticipation of 2026.

The number of flights has increased sharply.

According to information from Da Nang International Airport and Chu Lai Airport, in September 2025 alone, the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang and Chu Lai airports is estimated to reach over 3,900 (a 29.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024); welcoming over 589,000 passengers, an estimated 24.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The average frequency is estimated at 130 flights/day.

This result brings the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang and Chu Lai airports to over 35,000, carrying more than 5.79 million passengers, an increase of 12.5% and 13.1% respectively compared to the same period in 2024.

This includes 15,000 international flights (a 4.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024) and 20,500 domestic flights (a 20.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024). The total number of passengers passing through the international terminal was over 2.52 million (a 9.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024) and domestic passengers was over 3.3 million (a 17.86% increase compared to the same period in 2024).

There are 18 regular international flight routes to Da Nang, including Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Taipei - Kaohsiung (Taiwan - China), Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Incheon - Busan - Daegu - Cheongju (South Korea), Narita - Osaka (Japan), Manila (Philippines), Ahmedabad (India), Yangon (Myanmar), and Dubai.

There are four long-term charter routes: Astana and Almaty (Kazakhstan): 14 flights/week (operated by Vietjet Air, Scat Airlines, and Air Astana); Tashkent (Uzbekistan): 2 flights/week (operated by Qanot Sharq); and Macau (China): 14 flights/week (operated by Bamboo Airways and Vietjet Air).

The city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that from now until the end of the year, they will restore and open several new flight routes. In October, China Southern Airlines is expected to operate charter flights from Shenzhen (China) to Da Nang (expected 6 flights); the new airline Parata Airlines is expected to operate flights from Incheon (South Korea); and Vietjet Air is expected to operate flights from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang (expected 7 flights/week).

A boost for the tourism market.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company, China used to be one of Da Nang's main sources of international tourists. The news that China Southern Airlines plans to operate a charter flight from Shenzhen (China) to Da Nang is a positive sign.

"Da Nang has advantages in terms of tourism products and stimulus policies… so we expect to restore this market in the near future. This is also the company's main market, so when we received this information, we were very happy and proactively planned, ready to welcome guests," Mr. Thien said.

Chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, Cao Tri Dung, noted that Da Nang is witnessing spectacular growth in the number of tourists in 2025. This result is due to the outstanding efforts of state agencies and the business community; including focusing on attracting, promoting, and offering incentives for direct flights to Da Nang.

This year, the city has seen new flight routes from the Middle East (especially from Dubai), connecting Da Nang with many destinations in Europe and the US; additional routes from Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan (China), and South Korea; and new routes from Myanmar and the CIS. Most recently, China Southern Airlines announced the return of its Shenzhen (China) - Da Nang route.

"This is a very positive sign for Da Nang to attract Chinese tourists back. This flight route will become a 'lever' to help us penetrate deeper into the Chinese market, developing this market with high-quality products as we have exploited it before," Mr. Dung shared.

According to Mr. Dung, unlike previous years, the 2025 tourism stimulus program is divided into three phases, focusing on stimulating demand in many markets, not only during the off-season but throughout the year. This will not only help diversify products but also improve service quality and offer attractive packages for tourists.
