Lam Dong province authorities dismantled a football betting ring worth over 3.5 billion VND.

On June 2nd, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that they had successfully dismantled a gambling ring that organized and participated in online football betting with a total transaction amount exceeding 3.5 billion VND.

According to investigators, the online football betting ring was led by Nguyen Minh Hung (born in 1996, residing in Ham Thuan Bac commune, Lam Dong province).

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Police has temporarily detained four individuals: Bui Huu Minh (born in 1987, residing in Dan Binh village, Ham Kiem commune); Vo Tri Hung (born in 1981, residing in Thien Hoa village, Mui Ne ward); Le Hoang Hai (born in 1974, residing in Tien Phu village, Tuyen Quang commune); and Nguyen Minh Hung (born in 1996, residing in Dan Tri village, Ham Thuan Bac commune).

Previously, through local area management and monitoring of cybercrime, the Criminal Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police discovered that in several communes and wards in the eastern part of the province, many individuals were organizing and participating in football betting through the website Bong88 (Viva88). Recognizing this as an organized network exploiting cyberspace to commit illegal acts with sophisticated and secretive methods, the Criminal Police Department established a plan to combat it.

After a period of gathering documents and evidence and applying a comprehensive set of investigative measures, on May 21, 2026, the authorities, in coordination with other professional units and local police, summoned the individuals involved for questioning.

Initial investigations revealed that around April 2026, Bui Huu Minh contacted Nguyen Minh Hung to purchase online football betting accounts on the Bong88 (Viva88) website. After receiving the accounts, Minh further divided them into multiple member accounts and distributed them to gamblers to profit from the difference in price.

The police also clarified that Vo Tri Hung and Le Hoang Hai had used the assigned accounts to participate in football betting with monetary stakes from the beginning of April 2026 until the time they were discovered.

Initially, the Police Investigation Agency determined that the total amount of money transacted in this football betting ring exceeded 3.5 billion VND.

Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Lam Dong province is continuing to consolidate the case file, expand the investigation, and clarify the roles of related individuals in order to strictly handle the case according to the law.
