On June 2nd, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that they had dismantled an online football betting ring led by Nguyen Minh Hung (30 years old, residing in Ham Thuan Bac commune), with a total transaction amount exceeding 3.5 billion VND.
According to the investigating agency, recently, they discovered that in several communes and wards in the eastern part of the province (formerly Binh Thuan province), many people were organizing and participating in gambling in the form of football betting through a website on the Internet.
After a period of gathering evidence, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Lam Dong Provincial Police summoned several suspects to the headquarters for questioning.
Through this investigation, authorities determined that between April and May 21, 2026, Bui Huu Minh (39 years old, residing in Ham Kiem commune) contacted Nguyen Minh Hung to purchase football betting accounts on the BXXX88 website. Minh then further divided these accounts into smaller member accounts and distributed them to other gamblers to profit from the difference in price.
Also involved in the same network, Vo Tri Hung (45 years old, residing in Mui Ne ward) and Le Hoang Hai (52 years old, residing in Tuyen Quang commune) used the assigned accounts to bet on football matches with real money.
Initially, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Lam Dong Provincial Police determined that the total amount of money transacted in the football betting ring exceeded 3.5 billion VND. The unit has temporarily detained four suspects and is continuing to consolidate the case file and expand the investigation.
The Lam Dong Provincial Police are advising citizens to be vigilant, participate in reporting illegal activities, and refrain from any form of football betting, especially during the upcoming major football tournaments and the 2026 World Cup.
