A year after EURO 2024, Lamine Yamal returned to Germany and once again inflicted heartbreak on France in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League 2024/25.
Lamine Yamal delivered a brilliant performance, contributing two goals to Spain's incredible 5-4 victory over France.

Nico Williams, Mikel Merino, and Pedri scored Spain's remaining three goals. Meanwhile, France's goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe, Rayan Cherki, Kolo Muani, and an own goal by Vivian.
With this brilliant performance, Lamine Yamal became the youngest player in history to score a brace for Spain.
“France is a very strong team; they make you suffer, which is normal. But we are very happy with this victory,” Yamal reflected on “La Roja’s” win.
Spain will face their neighbors Portugal in the Nations League final at the Allianz Arena on Sunday night (2 AM on June 9th).
It will be a showdown between Lamine Yamal, the number one star of the new generation, and Cristiano Ronaldo – one of the icons of world football.
Following Spain 's victory in Stuttgart, Lamine Yamal was asked about his motivation when facing Ronaldo.
"Cristiano is a legend and we all respect him, but I will do my job, which is to win the match," Yamal declared, challenging the Portuguese captain.
Lamine Yamal lifted the EURO trophy in Germany. Now, he wants to beat Portugal to cap off his spectacular season and add points to his tally in the Ballon d'Or race.
“Just like in the last match. We are all very strong teams,” Yamal said about the final. He emphasized, “Hopefully we can bring the trophy back to Spain.”

Whoever wins the match between Spain and Portugal will also set a new record: becoming the first team to win the Nations League twice.
“We know what people expect of the team, but we have to keep winning,” Yamal stated, setting the goal for the final. “The hardest thing in football is to win and keep winning. That’s what we’re trying to do.”
In recent times, Lamine Yamal has been at the center of Ballon d'Or discussions. He and Ousmane Dembele are the two strongest contenders for the France Football/UEFA award.
When asked about the Ballon d'Or, Yamal responded: "I always tell my mother that the most important thing is to perform on the pitch."
Yamal was awarded the Man of the Match by UEFA. Once again, the Ballon d'Or was mentioned.
“I’m very happy to have reached the final and won,” Yamal said; “The Ballon d’Or wasn’t my top priority.”
