On December 30, 2008, the Bo Bo site was classified as a provincial-level revolutionary historical site by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province. Subsequently, on March 12th of this year, the Bo Bo victory site was once again recognized as a national-level historical site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In order to promote the value of the historical site and awaken pride and revolutionary fighting spirit among all strata of the people, in addition to strengthening the dissemination and introduction of local history, Dien Ban town has unanimously approved the investment plan to build a historical park at the Bo Bo Victory Monument area. Specifically, the monument area will be renovated, upgraded, and expanded to approximately 2.1 hectares, with an investment of 25 billion VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Ban town, said that since 2022, the project has been included in the investment list of the People's Council of Dien Ban town. The People's Committee has also assigned the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of the town to study and work with relevant parties to determine the boundary markers, change the land use purpose, and zone the historical site… because a part of the project area is related to national defense land.
The situation became even more complicated when, on March 12th, the Bo Bo victory site was classified as a national historical site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. At this point, the procedures for investing in and renovating the historical park fell under the authority of the province, including the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which prolonged the project implementation time.
According to the Dien Ban Town Investment and Construction Project Management Board, although the Bo Bo historical park is included in the general plan, the biggest challenges currently are funding, procedures, and land availability, as a large portion of the park's area is located on military land.
Furthermore, since the park area is not a priority project requiring investment funding, the project will have to wait.
"In recent years, due to budget shortfalls, Dien Ban has mainly focused its investment capital on essential projects such as transportation infrastructure... therefore, the renovation and construction of Bo Bo Historical Park, although very meaningful, will likely take longer," a representative from the Dien Ban Town Investment and Construction Project Management Board informed.
Located 55 meters above sea level, Bo Bo Hill, covering an area of over 200 hectares, is likened to a miniature Da Lat thanks to its lush Caribbean pine forest. From the hilltop, one can have a panoramic view of the vast area of Dien Ban town, Dai Loc district, and Da Nang city.
A trip to Bo Bo is not only a journey back in time to learn about the heroic deeds of our ancestors, but also an experience of exploring nature and enjoying peaceful surroundings.
In 2006, Phuoc Tien General Trading Company Limited (Da Nang) invested in tourism development in Bo Bo (50 hectares). After several adjustments, the remaining project area is approximately 11 hectares; however, due to various factors such as resources and land acquisition issues, the tourist area remains unfinished to this day.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang stated: "The town has assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to review the relevant procedures and legal documents, only then will we have solutions to promote tourism development in Bo Bo."
