Spreading acts of kindness

Over the years, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province have carried out many practical humanitarian and charitable activities to spread the Red Cross movement widely.

This year's International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8th) has the theme "Solidarity in Humanity." The theme affirms that those working in humanitarian aid are not separate from the community but are an integral part of it. Those receiving assistance are not mere numbers, but human beings with their pain, hopes, and dignity that deserve respect. In response to this movement, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province continue to affirm and promote their role, organizing numerous humanitarian and charitable activities to care for vulnerable groups, contributing effectively to social welfare work in the province.

As of April 30, 2026, the province had completed the consolidation, merger, and establishment of 22 out of 38 commune-level Red Cross branches; the remaining 16 communes and wards are still being urged to establish new branches. Accordingly, the provincial Red Cross currently has nearly 1,000 members and 42,565 Red Cross youth members. Continuing the tradition of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province have proactively engaged with the grassroots, reviewing and thoroughly understanding the circumstances of beneficiaries to advise the Party committees on support plans and mobilize additional resources.

Comrade Ly A Chu, Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Ta Leng commune, said: "During the implementation of humanitarian and charitable work, the commune's Red Cross Society has been open, transparent, and flexible in receiving donations. At the same time, we have reviewed and distributed aid to the right recipients, ensuring it meets their needs, creating practical effectiveness and gaining the consensus of the people."

Red Cross branches at all levels in the province carry out many humanitarian and charitable activities, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies.

From 2025 to the present, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province have mobilized 93,554 gifts with a total value of over 37.3 billion VND to assist poor households, victims of Agent Orange, and families entitled to preferential policies. Specifically during the Humanitarian Month in 2025, the branches mobilized and connected with charitable organizations and benefactors to distribute 13,221 gifts worth over 3.4 billion VND in communes and wards throughout the province. Implementing the campaign "Each organization and individual is linked to a humanitarian cause," the branches mobilized support for 2,001 humanitarian causes.

As a family in difficult circumstances, since August 2024, Ms. Sung Thi Co's family in Nam Nan village (Nam Hang commune) has received a regular monthly allowance of 500,000 VND to purchase essential goods. Ms. Co emotionally shared: “My family is poor, and my husband is often ill, so life is full of hardships. I am so happy to receive this monthly support from the Red Cross Society.”

As the movement with the largest number of participants, widely organized and maintained for decades, voluntary blood donation is not only a practical humanitarian activity to save lives but also contributes to educating the younger generation about love and responsibility towards society. From 2025 to the present, the entire province has seen over 8,200 cadres and volunteers register to donate blood and receive 5,138 units of blood, serving treatment and emergency care at medical facilities.

With 25 blood donations, Mr. Le Minh Tuan (working at the Provincial Community Activities Center) has inspired compassion in his colleagues and the community. Mr. Tuan shared: "Each time I donate blood, I learn how to give, even if it's just a small part of myself, so that others have a better chance to live."

The 2026 Humanitarian Month, taking place nationwide in May, is themed “80 Years – A Journey of Compassion for the Community,” commemorating International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day; the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026); and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2026). To further spread the spirit of compassion throughout society and promote the core role of Red Cross societies at all levels in humanitarian work, especially in connecting and coordinating resources, Red Cross societies at all levels in the province are calling for and mobilizing resources (cash, goods) to assist more than 1,500 disadvantaged individuals and organizations. Specifically, the goal is to mobilize support for sustainable livelihoods for at least 10 poor households, with a minimum support value of 5 million VND per household in 2026; to strive to start at least one humanitarian project or task, valued at 80 million VND per project or task; and to mobilize and receive approximately 550 units of blood from voluntary blood donors.

Comrade Bui Viet Cuong - Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: “This year's Humanitarian Month, International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day are and will include activities such as: blood donation, zero-cost stalls; mobilizing resources to build and repair Red Cross houses for households with particularly difficult circumstances; organizing medical examinations, health consultations, and providing free medicine to people… Through these activities, we contribute to creating motivation to help vulnerable groups rise up; and at the same time affirm the humanitarian role and mission of the Red Cross organization.”

In the increasingly widespread humanitarian movement, the efforts of the Provincial Red Cross Society, through specific programs and activities, have attracted a large number of participants with the spirit of "for everyone, everywhere".
